I’m also looking to adjust my bonnet alignment, and these posts have been very helpful. I can see how the front rubber hex adjustment would help, my question is there is another hex rubber adjustment near the bonnet latch. Wouldn’t you adjust this also or is this just for the latch adjustment. Thanks for any comments.

I will keep your posted. I decided to have my local Jaguar dealership do the repair under warranty and under the bulletin for this.
My appointment is Feb 17th monday. They will have it for a couple days they said. He told me its actually really involved and there is lots of adjustments to be made. He said he wants to get it as good as possible !
I will report back!

Thank you. When I spoke to my jaguar dealer, Glen cove, about this he said they would send my car to their panel shop to adjust. Which dealer are you working with?

I had an issue with the bonnet and with both doors, where the doors were not flush with the rear quarter panels. Brought it to the dealer and they sent it to their body shop. The Service Director said the bodyshop did a better job than the mechanics since they were very detailed oriented on the panel alignment. 90 minutes later I was driving out very pleased with their work.

Today I brought my my 16 f type s to a Jaguar dealer in NJ to look at the bonnet bumper fender alignment for a fix under warranty. My jag has a new car warranty until 12/2020, they said the alignment issue is only covered for the first year and the new car warranty doesn’t cover this. I asked for their opinion in writing, they refused. I’m interested in Fire550 and his results under warranty as we both have the same my16 f type. I have an appointment with another jaguar dealer who after seeing photos of the gaps ( very similar to fire550) needs to see the car up close and personal. My appointment is 2/24. Thanks in advance for your comments. I also have a rear differential oil leak, that is covered under warranty. Frank my 16 s coupe.

Hey man! I actually I'm going to get mine fixed monday. I know the general consensus is 90 minutes and done, however my service manager made the appointment with there certified Jaguar body shop and they want to keep the car potentially a couple days. When I told him everyone that gets this done is on there way within a few hours , he replied "I talked to the guy who will be doing your car, he said he just wanted to give that time frame in case he needed it" "there is a lot of adjustments and tolerances that need to be adjusted , I want to get it as perfect as possible ".
He also said the shop has not done this repair before so that is concerning. Oh well wish me luck man hoping it all turns out to my liking.
oh and yes the bulletin is in effect for 2014 and on. The first place you talked to are morons, they obviously were just looking to not do the work. My car is a 2016 and warranty expires end of this year. Mine is getting fixed under warranty!

I will report back Wednesday on my results.

Our cars are not made as well as some 25 year old cars I guess. I bet you can't complain if your F doesn't pass the Ball Bearing Test...

OTOH, We also own a hand-built fiberglass exotic that would be fortunate to pass a Tennis Ball Test.

I bet they're better built than Jaguars 25 years ago!
On reflection, time has passed more than I like to admit so make that 40 years ago ...

I always liked that commercial despite not believing it was entirely real. It was effective and clever and hit home the quality chops when Lexus was trying to prove themselves in the luxury car market. With the Ftype the biggest challenge with panel gap is almost entirely because of the huge stamped bonnet. I love it but it can so easily shift due to the physics of opening and closing it. Not a huge issue but certainly a first world problem!

So, what part of your F type is made out of fiberglass (or glass fiber)?

None of it. My comment referred to an exotic of a different brand, that we also own...

If I tell you what the F-Type is made from, our esteemed British members Brits will make fun of the way I type,

Again.

+++++++++++++

Allow me to get them agitated:

FIBERGLASS
TIRES
ALUMINUM

That’s certainly the way it’s pronounced.

Okay guys got the car back today. Overall I am happy. They got it almost perfect. Still a touch off but I can definitely live with this. Plus all the lines and gaps around the
hood, bumper, fenders are much improved and proportioned as they should be now. See pic below for before and after.
