Buying Jaguar F-Type P450
Hello to all F type owners ,,, so recently i have been so committed to buy the jaguar f type,, i want to make a special order and order the v8 p450 , but from time to time, i have this weird feeling that i might regret buying this car in the future, the reason why I'm feeling this is because I feel that I'm gonna get bored of it , and regret spending so much money on it , so I wanna ask you guys if you had this feeling befor and how did you deal with it ? I have visited all the other car brands and yet the jaguar f type v8 is still on my mind , so please any motivation from you guys would be appreciated , thanks

On the other hand, if you are looking at a brand new F-type R, I think there are infinitely better cars at that price point and it is not even close.
Just my 2-cents

I like that you say the Z4 is better in every category and then identify a category it isn't - looks! Ihink the Z4 looks hideous - typical German lack of style. YMMV.

I wouldn't say it looks hideous but yea, as I mentioned in my post I definitely prefer the looks of the F-type . At the end of the day though, looks can be a subjective thing.

Some owners come and go, some buy and stay. Not every car is for every person. If you have driven one and you enjoyed it, then there is little to be worried about with the purchase.

As an owner of a P450 for just over 18 months, I can't say that I've even got remotely close to being bored of it. I still turn to look back at it as I walk past it on the driveway, multiple times a day, and I smile the smile that says "yep, that's mine". I purchased mine totally blind, I'd never seen an F-Type in the flesh, let alone sat in one or driven one, but I had an opportunity to buy one new - to my spec - with a stonking discount and decided to say "sod it, what the hell!". I haven't worried about that decision for a single minute since placing the order.

That is exactly what it sounds like...and the statement that other, apparently all other cars ("infinitely better cars") are arguably better than the F-Type in every category except looks is well, absurd. The criteria are...? Once you drive an F-Type you begin, just begin to understand the attraction of Jaguars. A difference of one tenth of a second in the race from zero to sixty is meaningless in the real world but it seems to impress some people. There is a reason why Jaguar owners are so loyal, why so many Jaguar owners own more than one, why those owners who sell their Jag come to regret selling....
When you get into a Jaguar, any Jaguar, you smile. When you park your Jaguar you invariably look back at it just to admire your good taste...and none of this has anything to do with the infotainment system or any other on-paper specification. Jaguars are about balance, lasting beauty, quality, pedigree, and a combination of factors whch no other marque seems to have mastered consistently.

It's impossible to quantify an emotional purchase. 0-60, looks, build quality, reliability, gadgets, none (and more) of those things can be nailed down as to why a car makes you feel the way it does. That's why I have bought the cars I have over the years, because of that indefinable "thing" that just made me fall in love with them enough to buy new. Truth be told, the only one I truly miss is the 106 GTi, though I will forever hold the Alfa 156 dear.
As such, for me, if my heart wasn't 100% in it, then no way would I be buying that car. Everybody is different of course.

I love driving my F-Type.
It has plenty of speed and accelaration but what I like most is the way it handles.
I find myself looking for the long way home taking in as many curves and sharp turns as possible.
This car just handles like it is on rails.
If you think you will get bored, you probably have no alternatives that will satisfy.

I would go to the jaguar website and do a Build Your Own exercise for both the P450 and the R with all the options you want and then see what the bottom line looks like.
When I started shopping for mine, initially I considered the V6 model as spending well over $100k on a new car was a daunting thought. But when I started adding options to the V6 that were standard on the V8 R model, the price difference was only around $10k if I recall. And then I figured what the hell, I gain and lose $10k a day regularly on my retirement funds so I might as well go for the top of the line and not regret it.
When I was in my early teens and regularly engrossed in reading the latest issues of Car & Driver and Road & Track I used to obsess over the technical specifications like 0-60, 1/4 mile speeds, braking distances and how many G's the car could pull on the skid pad. As I got older I realized that driver skills, track considerations and how well prepared an individual car was when received by the testing staff could skew those measurements a few percent in either direction.
There was a lot more to choosing a car than published specifications. And that is why the fact that a new C8 (or Tesla) is faster than my Jag or corners or brakes a bit better means nothing to me. I'm not on the track or street racing for pink slips. The Jaguar simply has a different appeal than all the other cars that are "competition" to it and the minute differences in performance on paper that meant something to me when I was 14 mean a lot less at age 66.

I'm in the same boat as you are. I think P450 is great if you can keep the price around $80-90k levels. I think its biggest differentiator is the V8 and looks. If you don't care about the V8, I think there are better cars out there. I currently own a 2020 Z4 M40 and its arguably better car in every category than F-type. Comfort, tech, usability (trunk space etc), drivetrain, handling etc. but Z4 doesn't have V8 and the styling is definitely subjective between the two (I find F-type to look better). I'm thinking of getting the F-type for the V8 and styling next year.
On the other hand, if you are looking at a brand new F-type R, I think there are infinitely better cars at that price point and it is not even close.
Just my 2-cents

Bored? Never
I get bored with a lot of things. Food, people, stupidity, sloughing through traffic, work, relations with the same woman, sometimes life in general, but never with driving my F Type. I don’t drive it every day, but I always think of roads I want to take it to. Sometimes I take it to just go to the grocery store a couple miles away and I end up happy and feeling good for having done that. I don’t need a lot, but I am blessed for being able to have my F.
l bought it used for 1/2 what it went for new and it’s a base V6. Yet amazingly enough I’m still extremely happy with it and not at all bored with it.

I don't see how a Z4 is even in comparison to a Jag. They appear to be different classes of car. If I needed to trade down I might look at a Z4. In reality I'm thinking of a P450 as a nice upgrade to my V6S. Maybe next year when they are more available. I can't bring myself to order one at sticker with no guarantee of trade value for 4-5 months.
