Default Buying My 1st F Type R

Hello,

So I'm currently a used Jaguar F Type R is one of two cars I'm cross-shopping. I found this 2017 F Type R that seems to have been on the market for awhile, and I can't help but wonder if I'm missing something. Looking at the carfax, it says there's 1 owner, but looking at the history it looks like it was leased and then sold multiple times, am I seeing this right? Also -- I could have sworn the other day I saw a "80,000 miles maintenance" on the carfax, but that seems to have disappeared now. Could there be an explanation for why a car with 40k miles would have a 80,000 mile service done?

Here's the listing:

https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ckType=listing

Carfax:

Pretty new to this, any input would be appreciated. Any downsides (especially expensive maintenance items I should be worried about) to purchasing an F Type R with this amount of mileage?

Thanks.

Also not sure if this means anything -- but it looks like it was on this auction site about 2 years ago. https://plc.auction/auction/lot/jagu...wj6dl2hmk45175

Regarding 80,000 mile maintenance, Back then the Jags came with free service for the first 5 years. You would get your service once a year regardless of mileage. On my onw car, my first maintenance was at something like 1500 miles and it's recorded as 12,000 or 18,000 miles.

From what I can gather this vehicle was a corporate lease and has changed ownership three times. Why carfax identifies it as a single owner car I do not know. However, to me, there are several little red flags here that I would urge a bit a caution. The fact that this was a corporate car would given me pause. The car at auction appears to be the same as this one with an entry in carfax depicting an auction transaction.

There are far too many R's for sale presently with better history that you might want to investigate. Perhaps someone with better insights into these types of transactions will chime in here and provide their views and impressions that will help you.

Personally, I would steer clear of this example at least until some of your questions are fully answered.

I would agree...Steer clear if you have any questions you can't answer. Never good to buy someone else's problems. Here is some additional info on that car / VIN. Looks like it has been all over and had many price changes...So something is likely suspect?

That car has spent most of its time in New York and Florida. Personally, I avoid any cars that have substantial time in either of those states. Look for something from the west California, Arizona, etc.

I had shopped that car when I was purchasing my R a few months ago. I passed on that particular example for the reason cited above.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'd like to shop west coast.. but I'm from the east coast. I'm not against flying out somewhere far and shipping the car back home, but prefer somewhere a little closer on the east coast/mid west if possible.

Thanks for this. Just curious -- how do you get this type of information? Or do you work for a company that gives you access to this?
