Just wondering what are my options?
1. Quote and order (tire package) entirely from dealerships, compare prices...
2. Order individual parts online, gather and bring everything to local tires shop for mounting
Kinda skeptical and confused on online purchases from US and overseas. Any input here? Thanks in advance.
I have never had tires shipped to Canada, but discount tire direct is a very solid company - great options, will match or beat prices, and can even get tires they don’t regularly carry if desired. Of course you want a shop that has newer tire-wheel mounting equipment to minimize the chance for damage, but even the best equipment can be used to blemish a wheel if a muppet is operating it. Always good to make friends with the installer and hint that you will be tipping. I am fortunate to have a discount tire location within 2 miles so I use them exclusively - always great service and most of them are “car guys” so they like working on them and take great care.
I will now pause so that you can receive the requisite 500 responses imploring you buy Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires - you will have your car confiscated if found with anything else......
Are you seriously thinking of buying the storm wheels from Jaguar? Sounds crazy expensive. Can't imaging that is the most cost effective way.
I'd check ebay for a take off set or see if a member is interested in selling their set.
My recollection is they are very heavy wheels, you may be better served with an aftermarket forged wheel or a flow forged like a vorsteiner wheel, much lighter, less expensive, AND you can order with correct offset so you won't need spacers. Just my 2 cents.
Here is from a older post: Storm wheels weigh : F:35lbs, R:39.8lbs - a good set of forged wheels would be just over half that weight.
Tire choice is also important if you have a RWD vehicle and lots of HP (stock R model or higher). For stock V-6 models, it may not be a huge issue.

Anyone know how much the Forged Blade style wheels weigh? T2R3290 and T2R3291
I have these on my 2014 V8 S. The Brochure lists them as the only forged wheel offered by Jaguar.

I have the same wheels and I think Lance (Unhingd) posted their weights around here some time ago.
All I can say is I have hefted them many a time and they are really effing heavy!

Thanks for the info. I am not concerned about the weight it was more curiosity since people where talking about forged wheels. I am sure the forged wheels are stiffer stronger than
the cast wheels. Not that any of that weight or stiffness matters unless you track or push these cars to the extreme. I have the blade style wheels they came with my car I like the look of them but also like
the look of other stock styles as well. I put firestone indy 500 firehawks on the car. They are not speed rated to the 186 mph but I would never drive that fast.
I got them because they got good handling, ride and wear ratings on a variety of different cars. I am very happy with them so far.
Really really like the look of storm wheels, unfortunately conflict at work today and I wont be visiting the dealership so no pricing on the whole set yet.
I can image the full set of grey storm with wheels and TPMS + mounting + sales tax may get to CAD $6000+. I will report my findings next week so we can all curse at dealership together.
OMG, are you guys ready to see this?! If they don't hesitate to give me this quote, I shouldn't hesitate to share with the group. LOL
Here is the quotation of Gray Storm wheels with summer Pirelli PZeros. All dollars Canadian CAD$.
2 x T2R9909 = $2436
2 x T2R9910 = $2436
2 x 255-35-20 = $1109.70
2 x 295-30-20 = $1142.86
Weights = $16 (These are stick on weight.... hahahaha)
TPM kit = $594
Installation is not included
Total = $8758.49 (after tax)
TGX.
That is highway robbery!
And it's for crappy P-Zeros, upgrading to MPS4S would take it over $9,000 for sure.
Why anyone in their right mind would pay that much is beyond me, they would have to have far more money than sense, especially as with just a little time and effort you could source the same wheels (if not better, think 2 piece lightweight forged) and tyres for half the cost.
To charge prices like that JLR must be banking on the laziness or stupidity (or both) of the buyer.
If you have a RWD V8 that quote doesn't look like there is enough $ in tires. You're looking at ~$475/tire for decent summer traction. For a V6 RWD or any AWD its fine.
