CA takes the fun out of car ownership
#21
I'm in Salem.
Much cheaper and easier than Cali to license a car. I lived in So Cal for 29 years and remember it all very well.
But some parts of Oregon DO require a smog check.
Similar in Washington state. It varies by county.
Cheers

You Brtis still don't get it, eh. Federalism isn't a departure from being united, it's a bedrock principle of our Republic.

My wife said the same thing about leaving Northern Virginia. I've been enjoying SC for twenty years now and don't miss her a lick.

At least in California you get year around sunshine included with the various fees and taxes. I live in Massachusetts, and paid $840 for my annual excise tax this year, pretty much same as last year, for my 2016 V6. On a positive note, the tax is calculated based on the value of the car, I guess this means that in MA F type are not depreciating $$$

My family has a second home outside of Orlando on the eastern coast of Florida. It's beautiful during winter and spring, but right now, it's downright way too hot. Plus the love bugs that hit the area a few months ago are ridiculous!

I just bought a 16 f type R, east bay (Walnut Creek) and my registration was $650. Wonders why a 15 is more ? With that being said CA has it’d money going in all the wrong places it’s extremely frustrating. Since were on cars I’ll keep it at that. We have the highest gas tax to fix our roads but my local freeway (680) is in great need of repair and what does Ca do? Spend millions of fast track (toll lanes) and my roads are still messed up lol. I will be moving in the years to come.

I lived in Ca. for 35 years. Long Beach area So West of L. A. Moved out to Fl. 10 years ago and I Love it. Thunder storms and you can run a dragster on the streets if it has turn signals and head lights. Taxes are low and they cater to the retired people. Ca. is bad as or worse than N.Y.. The northwest states are getting like that also.

Oh, it most certainly does affect everyone day to day. You think 5G, AI, and reusable rockets are being engineered in Kansas? I don't think so haha.

And lets not forget the highest gas tax in the country and the worse roads to go along with the high gas tax. The morons that voted for to keep the tax last election have no clue to Ca politics. Money is never spent on what they say they are spending it on. After 34 years I will be moving to South Carolina. Was a great place to be when I first moved here.

California is the 6th largest in the world because of essentially three industries that have historical roots there, Hollywood/Entertainment Industry, High Tech/Silicon Valley, and Agriculture/Food Production. Smaller businesses are leaving California by the thousands every year as is the population due to numerous reasons, cost of doing business, high taxes, crazy regulations, incredibly high cost of housing. Add to that a homeless population that is growing rapidly and not properly dealt with and more Californians are getting fed up.
