Default Caliper color change

Thinking of changing caliper from red to yellow, any thoughts, has anyone did it. My calipers are ceramic coated and so is the car this may cause an issue spraying, if I do go for the yellow is there different shades of yellow , whats the best or color name is there different types of yellow, also has anyone put on new JAGUAR decals that are the correct size back on after.
If going ahead I need a spray primer, yellow spray paint and clear coat, anyone know who does best paint and where to buy, and of course proper size Jaguar front caliper decals

Red on red looks cleaner.

Yes I have done exactly that - red to yellow - already covered here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...4/#post2205431
I used off the shelf Dupli-color "enamel with ceramic" yellow caliper paint. Perfect shade of yellow IMHO.
I don't know for sure if it will work over the top of ceramic coated calipers but I can't see why not.
No preparation needed other than a thorough clean of the calipers, I used simple meths and a MF cloth.
And I masked off the brake rotors either side of the calipers, then cleaned up the over spray with turps.
Any excess paint left behind on the swept surfaces of the rotors rubs/burns off completely with just a few brake applications
I had some trouble finding the correct "Jaguar" caliper decals (correct "modern" font and curved) but I eventually found them, I will chase up a link if you want.
Clear coat is not absolutely necessary, I have done without it on past Jags with repainted calipers and new decals and the decals didn't deteriorate one iota.
But if you really insist on clear coat over the top of the decals make sure it is the exact same brand and type as the colour coat, otherwise you risk the clear coat dissolving the colour coat and running all over your nice new decals. Don't ask how I know this!

Edit - I got the decals from The Sticky Scene, see here (then click on Jaguar): https://thestickyscene.com/stickers/brake-caliper/

VHT should be perfectly OK, I have used it in the past with zero problems.

Yellow on red is a bit of a color clash. I would consider something in the purple range:

I like the red, dont mind the yellow but with the silver wheels I would consider black calipers. I actually think (but might be wrong) you will need to get rid of the ceramic coating first, the whole idea of ceramic coatings is to stop stuff from sticking to it. The paint is prone to chipping and flaking anyway.

Most guys aren't very good with colors, I think you should hire a decorator. :~)

If anyone needs a color change on their calipers, it's those with red ones on a Firesand car. Clash, clash.
I think gloss black would be a better choice.

I feel personally attacked! LOL
I hate my calipers and will be the first thing I do when I get the opportunity. I was debating colors...

On firesand with black wheels I would try to match the car colour. With silver wheels I'd probably go black.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. Problem is that I have custom orange and black wheels that came with the car currently installed as you can see in my signature pic. I also have the factory black 5 split spoke with the silver rim bolts and have been debating which to keep.

Well someone who dresses as I do shouldnt give styling tips, but with those wheels I reckon black would be perfect though red is fine. Painting them the firesand would blob in with the rim colour, on those wheels the black is really only highlighting.

I really don't care for the red with these rims. I want to like the rims, but I think the red calipers are messing it up for me. I was leaning toward painting them black, but if I put the factory black rims back on, I think I'd want them silver. However, I too am the last one that should be color coordinating anything.

Well you can wrap them which is completely reversible and pretty cheap. Sometimes I wrap stuff myself to see how it looks and if I like it then I get it done by a pro.I'd give it a go, I reckon with black calipers those rims would look ace.

I didn't even consider wrapping. I'll look into it, thanks.

Are you referring to "wrapping" the Calipers? That's ok on the calipers and holds up?

It's ok to wrap the calipers. Just don't EVER apply the brakes!

Apparently it can hold up for 3 years or so. I've never done it. I'd do it if I wasnt sure which way to go, especially if your wheel choices are undecided long term and would dictate whether the calipers would look good or not.

Painting the calipers has gotta be much easier and cheaper than wrapping them, and I would guess also easier to undo - just paint 'em again or remove the paint, I suspect pure acetone would do the trick nicely.
