Can a V6S muffler be fitted on V6 base for better sound

Hello! I just bought a 2017 F type base model with no active exhaust. It sounds ok, but I am more impressed with the V6S sounds esp at low RPMs.
To get that sound (factory), can I replace my muffler with that of a V6S. I am able to locate one at a car parts store

Welcome to the forum.
While I assume it would fit, the V6S features 'active exhaust' - the muffler has two vacuum-controlled valves which open/close depending on throttle, etc. Cars with switchable active exhaust can also have the valves open nearly 100% of the time by pushing the button on the console.
MY14-15 used an electric vacuum pump to actuate the valves; after that, Jag ran a vacuum line back from the engine. The vacuum solenoid is controlled by the ECM; your car is lacking that control as it doesn't have active exhaust. The upshot is, if you installed the V6S exhaust with no vacuum control, the valves would be open 100% of the time, which is the loud mode. It sounds great, but it's always loud.
You could check out the exhaust offerings of forum sponsors Velocity AP (VAP) and Supersprint.

It would be the same loudness all the time, regardless of mode, although obviously louder when the throttle is wide open.
"Disturbingly" is subjective. Those that have pulled the fuse to be permanently open aren't bothered. Since you're asking, I'd guess you fall into that group.
Your neighbors may feel differently. Tame driving in the neighborhood helps.

I doubt that there would be any any difference in noise in normal vs dynamic mode in your case. All dynamic mode does noise wise is to open the valves. Then of course it changes stuff like throttle response and shift points but that's a different story. Come to think of it dynamic mode maybe also affects the symposer noise but that's also independent of the exhaust.
I often do city driving with the exhaust in loud mode with the valves open and it's definitely not disturbingly loud.

Thanks. It seems that I will do it but keep the base muffler just in case it was quite loud around the city (can put back in)
other folks on the forum have said that the exhaust sound changes depending on driving style as well…. It gets louder if one pushes the car, although I doubt that

I used to drive mine a lot in dynamic with the stock exhaust, I dont recall drone so maybe there is a slight difference between the '14 models and the '16 models. I have the VAP quad exhaust on it now, and it gets drone quite a lot at cruising speed (about 100 - 110kph), and it is annoying. You can pull it back a gear to get rid of the drone, it goes away if the revs are over about 1500. I would clarify though that this is the exhaust manufactured for the 8 that I put on my 6, so I'm not complaining, anyway the sound from it is insane.
I'd see if you can get a ride in someone's '16 plus S and check for drone.

With the fuse back in and switchable active exhaust at least I have the option to close the exhaust valves and defeat the drone, but otherwise I drive in Dynamic mode with the exhaust valves open at all times. Like that it is perfectly OK tootling around and through the 'burbs, and IMHO it sounds better than in quiet mode with the exhaust valves closed and not at all too loud.

I have a V6S with switchable active exhaust. I always switch it to quieter mode when cruising on the freeway, and valves open at almost all other times. I've heard exhausts that drone pretty annoyingly and I wouldn't really put it at that level, but it raises the background noise more than I want in those circumstances.
