Default Can't Get Tire Pressure Reading

Seems like you can't get the tire pressure reading when the car is running. But when off, I'm able to go into the vehicle info menu to get the pressure of each tire. But suddenly, yesterday, the reading is all zero. any ideas? does the car need to be running for a bit? I swear I've been able to get it to show the pressure in the past. Don't see any other warning indicators saying anything is wrong with the monitoring system...

I think the wheels need to be rotated a little to get the readings - odd system.

indeed. I drove her about 300 feet, turned off car and was able to get a reading. odd system indeed! the fact that it can't do it while the car is one is really strange too.

I think the idea is to make sure that you always get a cold tyre reading, thus avoiding the risk of under inflation.

Was wondering the same thing. It must be part of a optional package we don't have.

I think someone reported here in another thread that tire pressure readings were a new feature of the 2015 models.

Not sure about it being an option or new for 2015. But this is how I do it.

- engine is not running
- turn on electric power (start button w/o foot on brake)
- go into the vehicle info menu
- go to check tyre pressure menu

If it's an option wonder if it's just a software update since all cars have the TPMS AFAIK

HTH

I was also wondering the same thing. I have done the same thing Shift described and my 2014 does not seem to have this feature on the menu. Perhaps it is only for 2015 models. Can anyone confirm this?

(new here) but most cars use the rotation of the wheels via the ABS/ESC system to calculate if they are under inflated. On my old BMW M3, it didn't detect my tire was basically flat until I was over a block away from my house even though it was down from the time I left. This is also why they can trip off even if the tire pressure is within a good value (i.e. the tires have worn down which also affects the rotation in combination with the pressure).

The F-type has TPMS sensors to directly measure the pressure, so I doubt it's also using the difference in rotation rates. May be that the wireless TPMS signal only gets picked up in some orientations.

Thanks, that has to be it. No doubt, we have the same TPMS system in the 2014's but in our case it only alerts to a pressure problem, without a display showing tire pressures, which is fine. I had the option of reading tire pressures in other cars, but never used it. It's only accurate when the tires are cold anyway.

Just tried it again no luck. Why do some have it and others don't.
I bought all options with this car

Can someone find out for sure.
Thanks.

Think the best explanation at this point is it's a 2015 model only.

Yep, that's definitive. It's not a feature included on 2014 models.
