I think that's what's confusing me. IMO *especially* if you're using the paddles and come to a complete stop. To me, starting off in second should be the default only if you're driving in normal, fully automatic mode, i.e casually driving .

Like when my wife is in the car lol.

When my wife is in the car, I've learned it's best to be in "non dynamic", or what I refer to as "granny mode"!

LOL

I think that is what confuses a lot of XKR owners as well so I plugged my laptop running SDD in to my car and enabled the gear monitor to prove that it always drops back to 1st in auto drive and auto sports mode.

That's the great thing about forums.. New ideas and different opinions. I can see AWD but not RWD.

The only time I'm ever in first is downshifting tight corners.

Maybe I'll change my mind when I get the pirellis off her.

My C5 Vette, with 4 speed auto would hit 55 in first. My base F-Type auto hits 55 in second, but only 35 in first. Downshifting to first to start certainly feels good, but isn't really necessary in normal driving. But then my rear tires are gone at 13,000 miles, and the fronts are hardly worn at all.
