Default Car Cover

I bought this cover from Jaguar when I ordered the car. Expensive at £270 but the price was lost in the total purchase. I'm very pleased with it.
Excuse the garage, I envy those pristine ones you guys in the Colonies post on here!

For a custom fitted car cover, that's really not a bad price. I got mine from HailBlankets and it was $220USD.

Excuse my ignorance but what is the difference between a custom car cover versus a $50 "small car" cover from an auto parts store?

Exact fit (size, shape, mirror pockets etc.) vs. a general fit based on vehicles class size.

I'm sorry didn't make the question clear. What are the benefits of the custom fit?Does it keep the car cleaner? For example

Hey chaps, I didn't intend to start a war. I just thought you might be interested to see what the OEM cover was like. Buy what you like.

No war started at all. At least not on my end. And I don't think from theirs either. Just was asking the benefits

I have an el cheapo indoor cover I got off Amazon. When I pick it up in the spring from my storage place, there's some grit on the car, that presumably went through the cover. (Either that, or the storage place didn't bother to put the cover on.) Might get a better one at some point.

Big advantage is that some of the fitted ones look great with cool colors, logos, etc. And some are for outdoor use.

Are most people okay with this car cover? I negotiated to have one thrown in with the car and when I took it out of the package I knew I'd never use it. For $400.00 and from a luxury brand I expected something that looked attractive and was made of a high quality fabric. The fitted cover my BMW 1 series came with was a bazillion times better and that car retailed for $40k when new.

Better covers use better materials: fabric, stitching, no-scratch seams, grommets, elastic, abiltiy to repel the elements (for outdoor use), and UV resistance.

Does anyone have recommendations for hail damage protection...I have seen those car bubbles and have been looking into those, but am not understanding the set-up aspect and how cumbersome they are.

A heavy car cover will protect from small hail.

I used my hail blanket car cover to protect my Mustang from more than one hail storm with no damage to the car while parked in a public lot at my office. Even wrote my license plate across the front and back in marker so as not to get towed/ticketed...

Garage was repainted and floor refinished after the leaky Triumph left. Hate the car cover - more fun to wash the car when it gets dirty

I used the factory cover once in two years. So much more fun to take her out, get her dirty and hand wash her... dirty American garage <br/>

If you don't have a garage, the main advantage is the heavier materials in the ones bought from Jaguar (i believe they go for $500 +/-) will do a better job protecting from the rain, sun, wind, hail than a generic size from Auto Zone.

I have one for my XF that i leave parked outside and it's been through multiple storms and there was just a small but of dust on the trunk which i think settled over the course of a few days but aside from that, the car cover held up.

Another member had asked me to shoot a quick video of me putting the OEM on. It took a few months, but here I am in a completely uncomposed state, poorly covering the car, and I got it on within a few seconds. I'm not sure how much it cost, cuz I made them negotiate it into the price of the car. But it is a fantastic cover.

"This video has been removed for violating YouTube's Terms of Service. " Does "uncomposed" mean you were nekkid?? LOL...
Good to see you back here.
I know that someone on the fb group was complaining that the official cover didn't have a form fitted piece of material over the sharkfin satnav thing, he was thinking that would result in premature wear at that spot over time.

I cannot believe AI or bots or algorithms can't figure out simple things like this. I will be irate if this isn't a simple gaffe. How stupid.

YT's filters were literally triggered by some random thing in my video. I assume it will be back up shortly.

Video is back up. I didn't look where the Jaguar word was, so I look relatively absurd and somewhat silly for about 40 seconds. But once it gets on, it's obvious this thing takes about 30 seconds to put on total.

Just some advice brother I wouldnt drag the cover on the ground or let it touch the ground. Can cause some serious scratches. Just some info
