I've used CoverKing, Stormking, a bit expensive, works well, as others have said, don't cover it if it is not clean. I have birds and trees which are a pain and in the condo garage, the exhaust fans blow dust, so it works to prevent the car from getting soiled. If it is windy, I just keep it uncovered. Most of the time cat's aren't too bad on cars, just footprints. It's the dogs that are worse as they will try to climb on the car and scratch it because of their claws. They also like to chew stuff off of cars, like what they did to my friend's Porshe 911 with their headlight washer grommets.

 

I have owned several car covers from Covercraft, They were used for outside parking while at work everyday and my main purpose was to keep the blazing Sou. Cal sun off of the paint and interior.
They are expensive. The ones I used were full custom fit and had mirror pockets. They also have a very good warranty. I had two of them fail by coming apart at the seams due to the stitching rotting out three years into the four year warranty. They were replaced no questions asked.

Indoor storage will be much, much less demanding upon the cover and I would expect a cover to last many years. I would suggest going to their website and seeing all of the different types of covers that they offer. They have everything from lightweight covers for indoor use to heavy duty covers if you are unfortunate enough to have to park your Jag out in the rain and snow.

 

I'm still back and forth on this. I don't want to spend $400 on a cover for in the garage. I am very OCD with keeping my cars clean and wash them roughly once a week ( I hate dust!) So biggest issue are my cats. they like to climb on top of the cars in the garage. Its mostly just footprints, but i have had one instance where the cat slid down the front of my Tacoma and left a few little nail scratches. They were very thin but just a pain to have to buff out, etc, and I don't want that happening to the R.

My other concern is the fine scratches from the cover ( swirl marks, etc ). Again I am very OCD with the paint.

I may just take a chance without a cover and have to wipe it down more often.

 

Here's a suggestion.
Buy the less expensive (satin) universal covre to fit your car for under $200.
Buy a shipping blanket (or 2) from Harbor Freight ( approx $10).
Put the blankets on the hood and trunk sections over the car cover to prevent cat scratching.
If that fails, shoot the small cats to protect the big cat.

 

Covercraft is having a fall sale. I was looking there because the cover I got for my Miata is pretty degraded and I should get a new one for the winter. Or just sell the car, but that's another topic.

The current I have is a lower end indoor/outdoor from Coverking that is just at the end of its service life. It was cheap yet designed to fit, and it it weren't for the relentless summer sun would still be OK. It was $90.

I see a "moderate climate three layer" from Covercraft going for $200 for the F-Type.

Funny you should ask about car covers, I have a 2014 XKR-S and bought a coverking satin custom cover for the XKR (because they don't have a pattern for mine and I have the same cover for my mini GP which I like) based off another member saying it fit well on the XKR-S. Turns out the spoiler made it look funny in my view and it didn't go down far enough on the back. So I sold that and just last week got a California Car covers cotton weave.

I'm really please with it, great fit, super soft inside material to go against the paint and thick cotton to protect it somewhat from bumps. I'd always get the mirror pockets because honestly without them its a pain to put on. Once on, lock the car and the mirrors fold in inside their pockets. I also paid to have XKR-S embroidered on the front, just in case I forgot was inside but more so I know which is the front, plus I think it looks good.









A little under $400 but I think my car deserves it, I like the custom fit. I know other say spending that sort of money on a cover is a waste but I tried the Bunge cover (size 3) and it was a little to tight on the edges and I figured it could eventually damage the paint. Spending what we do on these cars I'd like to keep mine as nice as possible plus I honestly like the look of the car under the cover.

 

If you're OCD I'd have thought you'd wash them carefully, not roughly!

 

I have a handful of collector cars that are kept in a semi-enclosed storage area (only one side open to the elements with the walls and roof covered). I've always used Cal Car Cover's "Stormweave" because its very soft and breaths out any moisture. I ordered one for my XJ6 a few months ago and they said their supplier stopped making it, and told sold me the new one they recommended for my situation. Put it on. Month later I took it off and there were serious scratches in multiple spots where the seams were in the cover. They are local so I brought the car and cover back and they told me that this wasn't a good over if it would be subjected to any wind that might move the cover around. Might have been nice if they told me that when I bought. Lesson, but careful if the car will ever be covered not just outdoors, but if the cover will even wiggle around at all.

 

A few weeks ago I was sitting in my garage contemplating to which of the usual suspects I was going to fork over my $300. to $400. for an nice car cover [and only the Lord knows how many thousands of dollars I've spent on covers over the years] when out of the corner of my eye I spotted a bag of 7 mil 9'x12' plastic "painters drop cloths" [from Lowes]. My F Type is mostly a garage-queen [as I am basically retired and generally use my wife's Cayanne to do errands]. Anyway, until I figured-out which cover to order, I taped together two of the plastic drop cloths and that would make do.

Well, for $2.50, I've got a great car cover that is translucent so I can still see the car, disposable so when it gets dirty or tears it can be easily replaced, and almost cheaper than air! I've been using the same one for about four or five weeks now and it works great. Once you figure out how to fold it, it's super easy. And at this point, I have no intention of buying anything else.
