Default Car won't remember last mode it was in and smart key issue

I had been having issues with my smart keys I use the key to lock and unlock the doors first time I start the car everything is fine but the rest of the day I would have to take the key out of my pocket 90% of the time and place it in the spot by the steering wheel. Also would get the smart key not in vehicle alert every now and then when driving. I took the car to the dealer they did some updates and said it was fixed.

Drove the car the next day same issues and on top of that the car won't remember the last mode it was in, I have to switch it to Dynamic every time I start it and now eco mode comes on in Dynamic mode. It doesn't shut off at traffic lights but does when I put it in park. Experimented a little bit and noticed if I used the passive lock on the door the car would start almost every time without having to take the key out of my pocket. A few times it would not let me lock it passively though it would beep like the key was still in the car.

Took the car back to the dealer was told more updates were performed, the antenna and RF antenna were replaced and keys are working properly. Picked the car up and the next day same issues.

Can anyone shed some light on what the issue may be?

The first supect in any electronic issue is the main battery voltage. When the battery efficiency drops off (either because of a battery defect or simply old age or lack of sufficient use of the car) random modules start to misbehave, sometimes in isolation and sometimes you can get several misbehaving at once). Dealers very often do not recognize this issue. So, is the battery fully charged? Is it nearing the end of its useful life? (You give no detail information about your F-Type, so ....).

Have you ever changed the batteries in the FOBs yet? What year is your car (i.e. how old are the FOB batteries)?

Thanks for the reply..

My car is a 2016 R with 6000 miles on it with the original battery sounds like that may be the issue.

And the dealer replaced your battery, if you read the whole thing. I’d put a charger on it.

Correct. New batteries are virtually never fully charged and this car wants and needs a fully charged battery. As it has only 6k on it, I can only surmise that it is used infrequently and/or for short trips. A battery can be tested as "good" but be far from fully charged - and I know this from experience. Do you have a CTEK maintainer (or similar)?

Yes.
The positive charging post is under the red cover on the RHS and the earth post is nearby (a bolt looking thing sticking up).

Default Update

Finally got a chance to take it out today after having it on the charger so the battery is fully charged and I'm still having these issues.

Could there be something wrong with the fobs? I'm thinking the only reason the car has no issues with recognizing the key when I start myit from house is because the fob never goes out of range of the car.

As for the car not recalling the last mode it was in I believe this is do to the dealer updating something one of the three times it was there for this. not sure they would even know how to fix this, they tried twice.

Any suggestions on what to do next?

Jaguar no longer permits dynamic mode to be "remembered" for up to 6 hours after shutdown. Actually, it does remember (check the ambient lighting when you turn on!) but will always revert to dynamic mode off on restart. No idea why, maybe some regulation or other.

Interesting, thank you for the information that solves one of my issues. They must of updated the software when I had it in there for the Smart Key issue.

My local dealership did mine when it was in for a new rear parcel shelf (cargo cover) under warranty. Not sure what the software update had to do with that replacement, but I guess dealers are obliged to perform updates at Jaguar's behest, and get paid for it.
