Default Now question...

As far as the mirrors are concerned, is there a way to separate off the existing covers to have them dipped without the need of an extra cap?

I don't think anyone wants to wait weeks for their cars to be "down" without mirror if the whole unit is one piece. I wonder if its even safe dipping the entire mirror.

If not, all interested would have to chip in and buy a mirror set, get it dipped and the recipient would send his mirrors to the company for the next in line.

Believe it or not we played "telephone" part on the bimmer forum for a situation like this a while back for 6 members.

There has to be a way we can remove the oem shell and still be able to use our cars while we wait.

Looks cool from the pics. I'd need to see it in person to see how it compares to real CF and CF wrap to see if it looks authentic or cheesy.

Its more 2d than 3d. the problem are the mirrors, wrap just doesn't work around the curves so the options are this and caps.

Can you be more specific?.....is the problem that it shrinks or creases?

Depending on the print, it does look fake but so does all non CF pieces (wrap etc), as well as lay over CF pieces when up close. I have done the rear diffuser on my '14 V8S in hydrodip and then XPEL wrap. it does look cheese when you look up close but where it sits and from where most people look at it you can't tell. It still looks better to me than the dull black plastic that was there. Dirt just stuck to it immediately. I would not do this to say the mirror cap which is up-close and in bright sunlight ... many on the XK forum have done the engine cover in dip ...

So wrapping the rear diffuser in carbon is a bad idea?
