CarPlay vs JLR Software

CarPlay vs JLR Software
When I first started using CarPLay in my MY2021 it worked great.
I connected a dongle to avoid plugging my phone into a USB each time.
I had voice control for navigation so that I could initiate navigation using my voice commands to Siri.
Then Siri would generate the nav. map and give step-by-step verbal directions.
The same thing worked with Waze, simply by asking Siri to navigate using Waze.
That was until about 3 months ago when Carplay stopped providing step-by-step directions.
There was a lot of misleading information on-line about resetting the nav. volume - bad info!!
A visit to the JLR tech. rep. did not solve the problem and the car was scheduled for a service visit today.
It was a totally wasted 90 mile round trip to find out that JLR created the problem when they did the last automatic (wifi) software update (presumably in March?) and does not yet have a patch to solve the problem.
Apparently, the dealer found out just weeks ago (but did not bother to save me the trip) and says the patch should hav been available in June - now they do not know when.
In the meantime it appears that ALL JLR vehicles with CarPlay have the same problem.
It is hard to believe these guys will be ready to go "all electric" any time soon if they are unable to fix their own defective software.

The last ICTP release had a bug that muted turn-by-turn directions in CarPlay and it appears that many SA's don't know about the problem. There's something of a work around that works in the F-Pace and presumably the F-Type. With Waze active, press the Mode button on the steering wheel until it cycles over to CarPlay. Unfortunately, this also cuts off non-CarPlay music. Past that, you're stuck doing without voice feedback, or using the native Jaguar Nav.
There is an OTA ICTP release coming in August that is supposed to correct this issue.
