Default Cars and Coffee

Went to a cruise in last night at Jimmi Cone in Mt. Airy and then this morning to C&C in Clarksburg. Both events were pretty big since it is the first nice weekend here in the People's Republik.

Mine was the only F-type which made it fairly popular. But there were some pretty interesting cars in addition to the normal street rods. The local dealer brought a Ghibli to both. Damn fine looking car. Too big for me but if I were in the market for a land yacht, I'd definitely try it. Same dealer brought a white 4C, very pretty car. $70k. He described driving it as fun but very raw. I think I'm going to test drive it soon since the dealer is near work.

But the vehicle that most caught my attention (and sorry, no pics) was a fully restored 1942 6 x 6 complete with a 50 cal mounted above the passenger seat. The perfect vehicle for commuting on I 270. Either people move over, get driven over, or strafed. I was surprised that it was gas (6 cyl. 1 bbl. instead of diesel.)

Almost pulled the trigger on an Alfa 4C before the Jag...but I felt like it would get old real quick. At the time, they were giving them away!

All the Masers are too big, too heavy and underpowered but they are pretty. The 4c I drove was fun.....but really raw after about an hour. It got quite uncomfortable after that. Handles nice however.

C&C at Hunt Valley Towncenter MD yesterday was huge given the good weather. 275 cars (yes I counted) and just about every make well represented including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mclaren, Alpha, Panoz, GTRs, all the British marks and everything in between Japan and the US. At least 5 cobra replicas as well. I was the only FType but Jag was well represented with Etypes, 120's, XKRs and a few others. Also a Jaguar Tank!

The Ghibli lives up to Maserati's reputation for lots of problems, although they are as common as BMW 5 series in and around Los Angeles. A friend got a Ghibli with every single option on the car (over $90K). When I saw him two weeks ago, I asked him how the Maserati was, and he told me it had been in the shop for 29 days up to that point and would surpass the 30 day limit triggering the California Lemon Law on the next day. He can't wait to get rid of it.
