The case of the disappearing coolant

this is an irritating but minor issue. Have the waterpump replaced and continue driving this beauty.

six Audi's and a Lexus I've never had issues like this under 60k miles.
it's clear the engineering went into the body, chassis and exhaust - the engine compartment is a mess.

nor worried about timing chain tensioners (I had a v8 Audi s4) - car will be gone before they're issues.

Sorry to hear about the issues. Water pumps unfortunately seem to be prone to failure/leaking over time. And all manufacturers are using more plastic parts and hoses in the cooling systems which eventually go brittle and fail. Your car is prob pushing 7 years old so it's in the zone that becomes an issue.
If it were me I'd be thankful I was all over it, aware of the issues and didn't overheat it. Would get them to replace all plastic cooling system parts while they are in there (crossover pipes, hoses, header tank and cap etc) and enjoy many more years of happy motoring

For future reference are the 5.0XF and F Type engines similar?
Don't drive it!!!! Seriously. If it's losing a quart in 10 miles, it's a serious leak. It could easily dump coolant and overheat the engine - and that is likely death to your engine (the aluminum block doesn't take well to overheating). And a replacement engine is >>value of the car...
Thank you. It's over at Dana's indy shop in Upton Mass (now) getting fixed.
