Default Center Console Vents!

If you select the auto mode, for both the A/C and in the vent menu, are the vents supposed to open and close while you drive?

Although set on auto, mine are always up. I am thinking it may be related to the A/C issues i have.

they open if the system needs extra cooling/heating. so it depends on where you keep your temperature set at.

Mine are always open just because I have the AC set so low.

When the ambient air is cooler than the temperature setting, for instance first thing in the morning, the car will send out heat and the vent stays down.
Once a/c is required, or if the a/c is off, and the car attempts to cool down the interior, the vent raises.
This is with respect to my car.
Lawrence.

When the A/C is on auto, once it reaches the desired temp., does the intensity reduce or it starts blowing wormer air at the same intensity?

It drives me crazy that mine starts blowing wormer air once it reaches desired temp and the dealer tells me it's normal.

I believe there's a setting that you can control the center vent (open/close) even if you have things in auto...it's in the menu system somewhere...

I find the system holds temp better if you lock in recirc mode by holding the recirc button for five seconds, then just use the manual fan control on a low to medium speed. You can still pick whatever temp you like, and the fan will still speed up sometimes. Pure auto mode isn't very effective at holding a temp.

I'll check it out .. at this point I have not noticed it blowing warm air although we are still fairly cool this time of year. The other day it was hot sitting in the sun and the a/c really got cold and it seemed to level off ok.

Probably in a week or so we'll have some warmer days to test how it behaves and it will be a month or so before we get hot and humid weather that would allow me to test out the recirculating system.

I'll let you know.
Lawrence.

If I'm recalling correctly on the base '14, a/c and auto lights go off if you select center vent down/closed.

Maybe I'm misreading this, but that's what climate control does. Once the cabin reaches the set temperature it backs off the aircon (or the heating, if you're driving in cold conditions) to maintain the set temperature. It will then try to balance cold and warm air flow. If the sensor or control circuitry and actuators are faulty the system may not be able to hold a steady temperature. In which case the cabin temperature will vary. But the air coming out of the vents is going to change temperature.

HTH.

All the other cars i had, when on Auto, once they reach the right temp., they reduce the amount of air blown thru the vents and some even stop blowing for a while.

On my F Type, as soon as it reaches 70 degrees lets say, it immediately starts blowing, at the same intensity, air from the outside. It also smells like condensation or moisture on the ducts.

It's a continuous process to where i either freeze or sweat)

I think it's related to auto recirculation when it detects smoke.

Funny thing is that i don't see any condensation/water under the car after i drive it for a while with the A/C on.

Temp is already in the high 80' and i keep the A/C on 66.

It was only in the mid 70's today, but I kept the windows up for awhile and the a/c on ..
With the car sitting in the Sun the air come out very cold at first as you would expect, and leveled down over time to just cool.. the fan on auto slowed down as well. No warm air at any point.
When it gets hot and humid, I'll try it on re-cycle to see if any difference.
Lawrence.

In Vegas heat we set temp where system will never catch up or use a max cool setting if available. Also we tend to use dash vents only to max air flow though in 2 seater auto set to lowest temp works.
