Check engine light question-just popped on
My engine light just popped on during my last couple miles to my house. I just had the car in to replace the overflow reservoir tank but I checked that and it is full. I also literally just changed the oil 2 weeks ago and checked the oil again last weekend and it was at full. I have a 2016 R with only 17k. She is rarely driven and trying to think logically what could be wrong. The car seemed to run perfectly normal as well. Any ideas? O2 sensor?

Get yourself a decent OBD2 code reader and that should tell you why the CEL has come on, and then you can go from there.
A code reader is an essential tool these days and it can save you thousands chasing gremlins and paying through the nose for dealership diagnostics.
I have used an iCarsoft LR V2.0 for a few years now (a version 3.0 has been out for a while) and it has saved me heaps.

If it's a solid CEL then no problem driving the car as that means it's just an emissions system issue but if it's a flashing CEL that's much more serious and you should not drive the car.

Thank you. That is the info I needed. It is a solid light. I was hoping it was safe to drive and wondering if there is a way to tell since it seems to run just fine.

if the issue is the O2 sensor, yes, it would be covered under warranty and would be free to you...BUT I would think that if they replaced the O2, they would also upload the latest software update which could potentially reduce exhaust noise. if this was the issue for me, I think I would just replace the 02 sensors myself...I don't believe they are that expensive (unless u have to replace all 6 of them).

I had it scanned and it is an O2 sensor in bank 2, sensor 3. So from what I can tell that is the drivers side and the furthest back from the motor-correct? Are these accessible with just a jack and creeper? I am not sure how far back that sensor really is in relation to the car. For example near the center of the door or more closer to the rear tire

If the downstream oxygen sensor on Bank2 is faulty, take the vehicle to a Jaguar main dealer and have it replaced under the emission warranty.

@Whatsnext, use a different reader or a smart phone with the Torque app to connect to the vehicle's PCM via the OBD port with a Bluetooth interface to read DTCs.
