The man who designed the F-Type will now lead design for Lotus / Geely. It will be interesting if the Chinese get into sport cars... See Article in Road and Track

Another fine piece of automotive journalism from R&T. So Burgess is going to work on "ALL" Geely brands and they don't mention Volvo. Someone should send the writer a note and clue him in. Then Burgess designed the F-Type, what happened was Ian Callum on vacation that week. Oh, and there is somebody at Geely named Peter Horbury. The brains behind Volvo and Geely designs for the last 10 years. Trust me you get better information on this forum.

Some Chinese company bought MG some years ago. They came with a version of the small MG-F convertible, but it never caught on.
Given the small numbers Lotus sells and the relatively lack of market penetration of Lotus in China, I don't think it will appear.
Unless they really boost it in China as a "Luxury European brand" and start making Lotus as SUV's.
This will be a sick joke as Colin Chapman's motto was "..there is no substitute for lightness.." and then brand a mastodont "Lotus"...

R&T got its inspiration from the Wall Street Journal, which published an interesting piece a week ago on how Chinese car manufacturers have now acquired the manufacturing know-how, but still lack the design flair. In response, they are recruiting busloads of western car designers. Quote from the WSJ: "“There are now more auto designers in Shanghai than in any other city in the world, including Detroit and L.A. Everyone’s opening studios here. Everyone’s hiring.”
