I'm here to claim my title as Granny Driver of The Forum (an ignominious title some would contend.) I intend to hold the title until someone supplies proof that dethrones me.

Dealer reset Trip B even though I asked that it not be zeroed at 1st year service, thus requiring the two separate pics.

Minor info is often lost in communication between the various staff members (if they are all robots we could simply implement an error-correcting code, unfortunately we still have to deal with these annoying humans).
For dealer visits, I've been backing up minor requests with sticky notes on the gauge cluster (e.g. "please replace all usb and auxiliary cords when finished").
Been doing this for about five years now. Seems to work so far.
Fun story. Years ago I had a Buell motorcycle and took the bike in for service. The dealer reset the trip odo. No bid deal, right? Well, back then, these bikes didn't have gas gauges so I just reset my trip odo every time I filled up. 150 miles was when I would need to look for gas.
Imagine my surprise when the low fuel light came on at 19.2 miles and I was a good distance from any gas station. I made it about ten miles before it crapped out and then walked to a gas station. The gas station had no loaner can and wanted to charge me $20 for a tiny gas can, so I bought a big drink in a glass bottle, drank it, cleaned it out in the bathroom and then filled it with fuel.

Dealers will regularly disconnect the battery for even minor service items. If they had to update any software, they definitely would have disconnected the battery. Disconnecting the battery will zero out all the trip info. In this case, the dealer might not have been able to comply with the request.
