I would also think it would be highly distracting to see it lit up in your rearview mirror.

Arrived! Easy install as promised and great to have clear view instead mesh. Fit right into brackets. Now to keep it un-scratched.

Congrats on the purchase. Glad you liked it. At your convenience can you insert a picture for the everyone to see? I don't have a convertible but always like to see if the products are as described on the seller's sites. Thank you

Easy installation except for the wiring if you get the lighted model.

I like the look. Does the leader etching obscure visibility at all?

Did you get the lighted one?

If so is it possible to just plug it into the socket in the glove compartment?

If you choose not to install the lights do the wires easily unplug or do you have to find somewhere to tuck them away.

Default Lghted

I got the lighted one. There are instructions on how to hide the wires but then taking the thing off could be problematic (not that I really need to). For now I just ran the wire behind the seat and used the 9 volt battery option rather than the included lighter plug (I use that to charge my phone and tablet).

Here are some shots with it lit in the garage.

What I wanna know is does it help with wind? My wife complains that the F type cockpit is windier than her SLK and I need help or I'll end up having to drive the old Mercedes instead of my F type!

Marginally better but much better to see thru! I had SLK55 and I had this on that also plus the Merc ones and it was less windy than Jag.

Got mine installed yesterday....

Took only a few minutes to install. Looks so much better than the cheap-looking OEM mesh.

I'm so glad I went with the clear one. I think the etched and the lighted versions look too tacky and impair visibility.

You'd think that but you focus down the road and don't really see the lettering much while driving unless you focus on it (which you do initially but I really don't notice it now). It is interesting that the mirror does reverse the lettering to your eye and you see it properly where if you look at the car from the front it is backward. As far as the lighting, it looks cool but agree you'd only turn it on when you want to impress someone say at a car thing at night for the most part you'd likely leave it off, I do with mine anyway. So I have a choice of using it if I want, if you don't have it, you don't get that choice.

It isn't a huge improvement over the mesh but it looks a ton better and is far easier to see through even with the lettering. I'd do the lettering again, my wife actually likes the lighting so would do both again.

Well I think both the clear and the symbol with lights look good. I would take either one, both are happy with their choices and that's all that matters. Looks good guys, love them better than then back mesh.......

received and installed the clear wind restrictor over the weekend. opted for the 9volt power switch that may control it separate of the car's functions. also, I routed the wiring as suggested in the websites video with the exception of placing the 9v switch in the rear glove box. pleased with the result.
