I think there might be some value to folks in determining which VINs are affected by the deficient clutch. So far we know that they are bad through at least 27733 but were fixed by 28678. If you have a VIN between those 2 numbers, please indicate whether your clutch is holding during a full acceleration launch, shifting from 1st to 2nd. This way we can try to pinpoint when they corrected the problem.
Please pm me if you prefer to remain anonymous.
The imprecise friction point is going to remain an issue on all VINs until the clutch delay valve is removed.

This will be the 3rd clutch and flywheel in Unhingd's car.
For those wondering why an auto owner is sticking his nose in this, it's because I do feel like I have a dog in this fight because I would REALLY prefer to have a manual F-Type, but only when I'm satisfied it's up to snuff.

Something tells me "fixed" is much too strong a word. "Significantly improved" might be a more realistic expectation. My other concern is what's going to happen to those cars driven "aggressively" with full power launches, etc., and how long the "new and improved" version will last before going south again.
The second set consisted of the same part numbers as from the factory. This third set is a totally different set of numbers. That's why I'm holding out hope. If that hope is unrealized, I will have Spec Clutch build a set to my specifications.

Yes, I know. That's why I referred to the parts now being installed on your car as "the new and improved" version. But, the fact that both originals 1 & 2 failed speaks volumes as to how weak the original set-up really was. Alternatively, it could be more about Unhingd you are. :-)
What info are you relying on to theorize that the new parts are really better? Perhaps they just changed suppliers, hence new part numbers.

When you pick the car, could you please get me something that I can print and beat service manger with over the head? The reason I am asking is that when I asked my Jaguar Service about these, I got following response:
"I have checked the part numbers for accuracy, the only available flywheel is T2R8810, the only number available for the clutch is T2R21165, and is not in parts production for general use, meaning this part is restricted to failures only and all parts replace will have to be sent back. The only way to get this part is to have a failed one. "
It is very likely others will be in the same situation.

Mine will slip if I push it, but as mine and Unhinged are cousins from the same week, it's no surprise. I am watching his experiments with interest.
Luckily, living in a land with poor quality roads (Dallas), my chances to launch off the line are pretty much zero. So for now I can live with it.

However, it is even more interesting that as the least purchased color, BRG seems to dominate as the most popular color for the F-Types with the MT.

Clearly, those who appreciate and demand a manual gearbox, have abundant style, taste and class. Clearly.

Oh, there's never been a standard color of BRG - it has constantly changed over the years. If Jaguar wants to say this is BRG, I'm cool with that. They've earned it. MINI has a nice BRG; so does Aston. I can understand them all being different.

That sounds like rhetorical question. Bad luck. How BFE is BFE? And unable to get in or out of gear? I hope we get the full story once your safe at home.

Fair enough. It's varied over the years. There is a Le Mans Bentley at the local museum that exemplifies what I think of as BRG. I think it's from 1929. It's a beauty. If they offered that color, I'd be driving it.
