Clutch Satisfaction

Can we correlate whether the clutch failure is in just S models or all MTs. It is possible JLR used the Volvo parts in S models due to the higher torque values just like they used slightly larger brake rotors. It seems from the small sampling that it is only S models.

My manual is in for its second official visit to Jaguar service for the clutch issue... I've also involved Jaguar Customer Service, so hopefully this gets taken care of. I was informed by the service center yesterday that mine was only the second manual F-type that they had seen, so they are not at all familiar with the car... fingers crossed!

I had some hook up problems on a major steep incline onramp that spooked me, but what finally got me to go.... I have a metal twing vibration sound that sounds like it's coming from underneath the AC vent inside the dashboard console somewhere. I assume that's clutch related? It only happens on bumpy roads. Related?

Ok, Nessie is at Plano Jag this morning. I have to say that the staff there is friendly and polite. I also think that being equipped with Unhingd's receipt is like kryptonite. The fellow should seriously be knighted, granted sainthood and awarded the Nobel prize in automotive compassion.
I will report what they do with the clutch.

The clutch and flywheel numbers are the right ones. It's usually best practice to change the throwout cylinder every time you replace the clutch, but in this case since it is so new there is no real reason to replace it.

One other thing I thought I'd add: now that my F-Type transmission is on the way to being corrected (hopefully), it appears that Jaguar has started to get the appropriate parts into the queue for relatively quick resolution to the clutch issue. I'm told my car will be ready to roll by the middle of next week, so that will be a one week turnaround, if that estimate holds. That's a huge improvement over the month-long wait that Unhingd had to endure waiting for his parts - lets hope this is the case and not my dealer being overly optimistic.

One more bit of info that I thought might be helpful - I'm starting to think that involving Jaguar customer service is absolutely essential in getting this repair done. The dealers are relatively clueless about this clutch issue, but Jag isn't. The new part numbers are proof positive that they are aware of this issue. So, until there is a voluntary recall or, at the very least, a service bulletin about the issue, going through Jaguar Customer Service is highly recommended. Of course, Lance's invoice is every bit as important in making the case, as well...
Good luck!

+1. I involved them as well to ensure that it wouldn't take months to get parts as first reported to the dealer by JLR parts supply.

So, an update on my repair. They are going to have the car over the weekend for the fuel filler SB, they are not able to reproduce the clutch problem. I think it's the same thing as Unhungd, they don't know how to operate a manual gear box car, and if they do, they are babying it because they don't want to trash some customer's $100K toy.
So they are not getting any slip, and as such, Plano Jag is politely telling me they can't reproduce the problem. Sadly my loaner is a somewhat smelly XF (no really, it smells.... off) rather than another F-Type. So maybe next week I can show them the clutch problem.
For those of you wondering, yes Texas also has a lemon law (like California). So if push comes to shove, I am hoping they would rather do a $3K repair rather than take the car back.
