Default Conflicting Information About Changing Brake Fluid

I called my Jaguar dealer closest to me and asked if I should change my brake fluid. I have a '14 V6S. The service writer said 9 years. (?!) I asked her if she's sure and she said I don't need to worry about it for awhile.

I then called a dealer 100 miles away from me and they said 3 years, so I booked an appointment.

Should I cancel the appointment?

3 years is correct. I changed my brake fluid last year.

You might wish to tell the first dealer that they missed out due to giving out incorrect info.

I believe all DOT 4 and 5.1 brake fluids are hygroscopic, this tendency to absorb moisture from the atmosphere is the primary reason for fluid renewal.

that's true but the brake system is a closed system and it isn't going to get any additional moisture in it over time other than what's already there. The big reason is to remove contamination due to wear materials, corrosion, etc.

Unless a vehicle is being tracked, 3 years is overkill (depending on mileage) but it can't hurt......other than in the pocketbook. I'll be doing mine because the maintenance schedule says so, but I don't think it's a mechanical necessity.

When folks say 'it can't hurt' to do extra maintenance, that's assuming that the work is done properly. Which, given some of our dealers, is a stretch...

I just had it done this morning. Was going to ask "Does this brake fluid for this car go stale?" I've got no requirements like that in my Fiesta.

Your Fiesta doesn't have to stop from 171mph. Who cares if it's brake fluid boils a little bit?

nooooooo its one of these. Ford sends new buyers to Miller Motorsports in Utah to learn autocrossing and other maneuvers like handbrake turns. I wasn't very good at autocrossing but could do handbrake turns. They didn't teach us how to 180's. We also went for a hot lap with a professional driver and he tripoded it.
