Went to a Cars & Coffee get together today and thought I would post these pictures of what the Jaguar supplied front license plate frame looks like installed. This is actually the first time I have seen one installed.

That looks horrible. I couldn't imaging ruining the front of my car like that.
I've had several sports cars over the years and never ran with a front plate. If I was pulled over I was always polite and courteous and simply explained that the front plate is in the trunk/boot and might add "officer, you might also understand that a front plate would ruin the looks of the fine automobile".
Works for me (but I do understand that your opinions may vary).

It's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of where you live. In Maryland, there's no way "politeness," will keep you from constantly being pulled over and ticketed for not running the front plate.
Naturally if you get the "wrong" police officer - you're right - it can be anywhere USA and you're toast, no matter how polite you are. I can only speak of NY (where I am from and spent the mast majority of my driving life) and these last 16 years in Maine - both states which require a front plate - and I have never encountered a problem. Of course your state, and experience, may differ.

And besides us having F-Types, you live in what I and others consider the crab capital of the world whereas I live in undoubtedly the undisputed lobster capital of the world. NICE!

Maryland is probably the most severe state for front plate enforcement I've lived in. And I've lived in NC, TX, CA, MN, DC, and MD. I think a lot of it is the amount of attention the car you are driving receives. In a Ford Focus or Chevy Malibu, you might get away with it, but in an F-Type, which is very rare, likely not, at least in many front plate states.
I even gave up and ran a front plate on this car of mine . . .
On my F type r I ended up with a piece of metal in behind the center bar and rare earth magnets attached to the plate and it holds really well, even when passing large trucks at high speed.
Can you elaborate on the "piece of metal in behind the center bar" and how you got it in there?
Steve, with JCNA, sent me this picture saying he located a manufacturer that will start producing a Licence Plate support that hooks into the front tow hook. I'll check and see if i can find more info.

If you know anything about the People's Republic of Maryland, it is the craziest, most abusive traffic enforcement state. When the state is run by unmitigated socialists who need money to feed the machine of big government, you get tax and harass policies rather than to protect and serve. Sad thing is that police and courts serve to enforce silly infractions with "zero tolerance" rather than real crime....
Sad part is that it ruins people's respect for law enforcement and the courts....
No comment on your political commentary above, but it is absolutely true that if you try to run without a front plate in Maryland, you will eventually give up and comply because you'll tire of being stopped frequently at $75 per infraction.
It's a far different situation here than most other places where "only meter maids do it." In addition, LEO's will stop out of state vehicles as well, and they will check to see if your registration is from a "front plate state." If it is, they will cite you.

Clever yes, but it is far more ugly off-center like that and extending well up into the mouth opening above the bar. At least, the JLR supplied US front plate bracket mounts flush with the top of the bar and doesn't extend into the opening.
I guess I don't see the point because you have to leave it on for driving anyway, unless you are just fond of no-plate, static displays at cars and coffee or the like.

I just spoke to my mechanic who did the actual work.. I supplied him with about 14-16 'earth magnets', around the size of a half dollar (bit more than an inch across), but thicker. He put half them across the back of the plate and epoxied them and taped over with weather proof tape and then epoxied the other half to the inside of the center bar.
I had thought he put a piece of metal in the center bar only, but he said he tried that and it did not have enough sticking power. Earth magnets attract to themselves very strongly and you increase the power with a piece of flat metal over them. So, he epoxied the other half of them to the center bar and then placed a piece of flat metal over them to increase the attracting power.
If you follow the instructions on the earth metal packaging, it tells you how to increase the power by placing a metal piece in behind them.. if does not seem clear, let me know and I'll try to find the instructions regarding how to get the most power out of them.
I have no problem with the plate falling off, and I can remove it easily just be grabbing it and pulling it off.. leaves no marks with the tape over the magnets.

I had to go with a similar bracket from GOMINIGO (GMG) after the long arm of the MD law nailed me for no front plate. The tow hook height worked well and being offset to the right complemented the funkiness of the MINI. Did the same thing for my wife's MINI. Not certain it will work so well on the F-Type.
This may be a better solution: No Holes License Plate Bracket
Still uses screws but up underneath the horizontal, so it won't deface any visible surfaces. If designed properly, I would think that the bracket could be mounted upside down under the center bar to place the top of the plate at the top of the bar.

Now you know why they say "Maryland is for Crabs". It's ok to break the speed limit by exactly 11 mph, but they will divert from a 459 or 187 call if they see someone en route without a front tag. You'd be crabby too.
