Actually, that is the only choice you have. Retrofitting to the splined and threaded "axles" would require a massively and expensive customizing of the axles and rotors. Back in the sixties, the british SCCA cars were were required to convert to bolted (steel or alloy) wheels for safety reasons. That was not a serious issue since bolted systems were typically offered as one of the options and the parts were readily available.
Dayton provide a threaded adapter with knock-offs. The wheels engage the teeth in the adapter and the knock-off cap threads on to hopefully hold the whole lot together.
I'm afraid this all looks a bit dubious unless you're only taking your MG out for the 4th of July parade!
Bolt-on's would appear to be the only sensible option.

I was not aware that these adapters were available, but I concur with your assessment(dubious to say the least).

I figured they probably were available.
A lot of Shelby Cobra replica folks used the same bolt on pin-adapters so they could look like they had real knockoffs. It's pretty much just like a knock-off, in the sense that it can spin off just like the real ones. They would safety wire them, but the only purpose of that was to tell if they were backing off by seeing if slack was developing in the wire.
