Convertible top problem

My 2014 F-type has a major problem and I wondered if anyone has experienced the same or similar. A month or so ago the convertible top stopped working - absolutely no response from the switch - having worked perfectly beforehand. The fuses were all good so I tried the classic solution to everything - disconnected the battery for half an hour. Still nothing so in the end I took it to my local dealer - Jaguar in Frejus (France). They have reported that the area between the seats and the luggage compartment has water in it (car wash, rain storm?) and that this has caused certain electrical components to fail. It gets worse - this failure has also caused the roof to lock shut and it is not possible to open it without physically wrecking its latch to the top rail. Obviously this is going to result in a monumental bill hence my (first) post on the forum.
BTW I do love the car which is leagues ahead of the Aston V8 Vantage it replaced.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Here's my 'go-to' regards 'vert drainage

I check the drains once a year, above & below.
Also, the recommended periodic use of a fabric conditioner on the cloth top keeps the water beading off...

But the original statement "this failure has also caused the roof to lock shut and it is not possible to open it without physically wrecking its latch to the top rail." would make me worry.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I did a search of the forums before posting but the thread referred to did not show up.
So it looks like we'll have to replace the hood motors etc that have been water damaged. The immediate problem as I mentioned is that the top will not unlatch. Does anyone know if this can be done manually?

This tells you how to close the roof manually.
I am not sure whether you can also open the roof manually.
Certainly worth a try!!

Thank you for this post. I have my top up a lot and though it hardly rains in California, I checked the drain holes. They were full of dried leaves. I quickly vacuumed them out and will do so every few months. I would also advise that anyone with a convertible check the 6 inch rid with two ball joint end on the right side top flap mechanism. This will unscrew eventually leading to the top jamming. If it hasn’t completely come out you can tigh it with a tiny spammer. I suggest using some loctite on it to slow the unscrewing.

This issue is now resolved - my local dealership were at a loss as to how to deal with the problem even after consulting the factory. The solution they proposed was to dismantle the roof, completely destroying the cover in the process. However as the roof cover and certain other parts were on back order they held off for a few weeks. One day whilst moving the car in the parking area, a technician decided to try the roof again - and it worked! Having been left parked in the sun for some time the water in the roof well had evaporated and the motor had dried out. Once the roof was open, the motor could be replaced and all is now functioning properly. The invoice for the investigation, replacement motor and associated wiring harness came to nearly 4,000 euros (US$4,000). So the moral of the tale is to keep your drain holes clear.
