Default CPO Question?

I test drove a 2017 F-Type today and I'm leaning towards adding it to my collection- I really liked it.

I'm a little wary of Jaguar repair bills, and got hosed last year with duplicate work on my Ferrari (Over ten thousand in repair bills TWICE because the same part failed on the drive home from the dealership... ) so the fact that it was a CPO really appealed to me...

However, they said it only has a 1 year warranty in addition to the factory, but confirmed it is "Jaguar Approved Certified"

When I go to Jaguar's website, they say they get a 7 yr/100k warranty.

Anyone know whats going on here? Is there something I'm not understanding about the CPO program?

The CPO warranty adds another year on the factory warranty starting when the car was first punched, based on how long the warranties were that year and bumps it up to 100k miles I think for 2017 they were 5 year/60k with scheduled maintenance covered for the first 5 year/60k, so your warranty would be 6 years, 100k miles.

The 5 year warranty started in 2016 model year (USA).

CPO can be up to 7 years 100,000 miles from the original in service date. The dealer pays for the warranty so they usually advertise only 1 year. My car is a 2017 & I opted for the 7 years. Having worked at a Jaguar dealer for many years I would highly recommend the longest term.

I'm in the market for an f type also - i've learned that whey they cpo, they do the 6yr/100k option. you can pay a little more to get it to 7yr/100k. It's about $1000, totally worth it imo. Just ask your dealer for cost to get to 7yr instead of 6.

Does anyone know if the CPO warranty covers the regular oil changes / regular maintenance? Or just things that go wrong? Because my XF was pre owned but I remember paying 0 for oil changes for a couple years. But when I inquired from a dealer if CPO for the F Type covered regular maintenance, he said it only for new jaguars, and it would only cover things that go faulty. Can anyone confirm? Or is it dependent on the dealer? Thanks

Although living in UK I can't be certain of CPO warranty in USA I would expect them to be similar.
Original warranty provided by Jaguar with a new Jaguar is for parts and labour for rectification of faults on non wear items.
Usually this will not include routine maintenance services, although some franchised JLR dealers may optionally bundle a service package into the purchase price of the new Jaguar.

In UK even if you buy an additional warranty through JLR when the original has expired it's basically third party insurance policy to cover parts and labour with various inclusions and exclusions according to price.

In us, maintenance is only covered for 5yr/60k miles. Cpo does not extend the maintenance, they are seperate things. Maintenance really only covers oil changes and windshield wipers though, so it’s not like it’s anything that special.
