Default creaking sound

Hi everyone,
I have a 2018 v6 manual F-Type and it often has a creaking noise, most prominently when I go around curves. It sounds like it's coming from the back roof area and I have been told maybe it's the panels rubbing together. I heard there were small teflon pieces that can be put in between the panels to stop this. They haven't been able to help me at the dealership.
Has anyone had the same issue and a solution?
Thanks!
Nick

It might also be a failed bond joint on the frame. A number of cars have suffered that failure and had to be re-glued.

Ooooooo, not good to hear. I too have a creaking sound from the right, rear each time I slow roll across a driveway hump at an angle. I thought it might be the trunk cover. Oh, well. Something else to have checked out when Spring arrives. Thanks, Lance.

Yep. Mine's prominent from the left rear during low-speed corners or driveways. I've practically given up trying to resolve it.

Mine creaks and groans from the rear on both sides, especially on speed bumps or when accessing driveways.
Only started doing it a year or so ago, straight after I hit a massive speed bump at 70 km/h. The speed bump (well at least the next one!) was signposted at 20 km/h but I never saw it as it was hidden in tree shadows. Made an awful thump thump as I went over it, but when I inspected the rear end later I couldn't see any signs of damage.
I'm with the Unhingd one, I reckon the impact shock loosened the bond (glued) joints at the rear, where the rear quarter panels are bolted and glued. When I push down on the rear fenders I can reproduce the creaks and groans, especially with the hatch open.

I have this sound as well. I thought it sounded like the shocks flexing or maybe bushes that need lubricating. My car is only 3 years old. It is hard to imagine there is a fix for this.

There is a fix. There is another thread explaining how the Jag authorized body shop disassembled the body and rebonded the creaking body parts.

Mine is going on next Monday because the passenger rear quarter creaks if you press on it. Apparently rthhey have to take the rear bar off or something and do something around the taillights.

Gee, I always worry that more unseen damage is done by body shops than just living with a problem. :-(

Agreed, though mine is being done by the dealers under warranty so I'm not really concerned.

Hi, I'm in the process of purchasing a 2014 f type s v8 and I noticed (what appears to be) this same creaking sound. The dealer is deciding if this is something they want to fix or not. Is this a big problem? Would it deter you from purchasing? 2014 Jaguar f type S V8 convertible optioned out. 67k miles. $34.2k

ha, a bit of self promotion for you. Lol

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...panels-243503/

press on those spots as indicated in my guide and if it’s the same sound then go ahead and buy your car as super easy fix. Alternatively you can just apply Tessa tape to that bottom trim piece instead but didn’t think of that before

Trying removing the cargo cover in the trunk and see if it helps. I had such a noise coming from its hinges.

Glad this thread popped up. Having the exact same sound coming from right rear during turns, most notably at round abouts. Dealer said they couldn't reproduce it. Yeah, right!
I'm going to try the tips mentioned here and on the linked thread from Borbor.
Thanks!

Yea I think I may have the same issue... what “bonding” do they have to do? I can’t see how anything important isn’t welded or bolted...

There is a video around here somewhere showing F-Type construction in the factory and because the frame and panels are all aluminium there is zero welding, rather the panels are fixed - "bonded" - to each other with glue and rivets. There are still plenty of bolts holding most panels to the frame.
