Default Cubby hole door

I have a 2016 f-type base convertible. My electrically operated cubby storage door (between the seats) will not open, it is electrically operated and I checked the fuse and it was good. I replaced it with a new fuse anyway. still no luck.
It worked when i purchased the car in December of last year. when I tried to remove some items i had in there it would not open. i checked the valet mode and even with valet mode off it still will not work. I purchased a new electric oem lock but i have no idea on how to open a locked door or to even find an accesss point.
the dealer seems completely uninterested even though i purchased the warrenty that covers electrical systems .

Any Help out there?

I don't have the answer, but suggest you go to the right forum.

On our 'Vert, it locks when the roof is down and you lock the doors. (As does the glovebox) So, there must be SOMETHING 'lectrical in the mechanism.

Possible workaround for the OP: If it IS the lock that is sticking, you could try opening the hood (bonnet) because the cubby is inhibited from locking in that scenario.

Maybe, it wants you to knock 3 times?

Mine was originally miswired from the factory - locking the car caused the cubby door to fall open!

A few years ago, someone else here had the same issue. I’m afraid I don’t remember a solution other than cutting and replacing the door.

Good luck with other sites if you find this one unfriendly and unhelpful - it's one of the best!

Everyone's SEARCH skills vary. If you can't find an answer, inquire. You can use google too, just include Jaguarforums X152 in your query.

The pinned area at the top includes several useful threads, such as How To Guides (including a shop manual) and Known Issues. If you like to DIY, posts by @Therock88 are invaluable.

Note that some links in signatures don't show up, if you use a phone.

Happy reading!

This is a amazing forum and very helpful, the level of knowledge about almost everything is exceptional among all the members and often more than than JLR techs themselves.
Often for problems there may not be a pre-trodden path to follow so no one to spoon feed you every step, just like in this case. You do have to do some of your own problem solving to come to the solution and then post your solution here for anyone that follows.
I see that your problem is just accessing the rear of the cubby lock. Look up plenty of the stereo upgrade thread on how to remove the rear waterfall panel in the convertible. Super easy in the coupe that I have but can’t advise you on convertible.
