Dash cam recommendations
Looking for recommendations on a dash cam for my f-type, also has anyone used the hardwire kits or do you just use the cigarette power outlet. What's the best SD card to use. Looking at these two options:
Has anyone bought either of these from Halfords,
Nextbase Dash Cam 312GW
Nextbase Dash Cam 512GW

The one thing that immediately turns me off from those cameras is their size. Imagine a rearview mirror mounted below your rearview mirror! You end up losing a lot of space. Plus, in my opinion, it looks ugly and is so out of place in our cabin.
Id suggest you get a BlackVue 750s 2 chanel.

I have the older version (650s 2ch) and its awesome! The 750s 2ch has improved upon it with both the front and rear camera recording in 1080p at 60fps and 30fps respectively.
The video quality is great both day and night, audio quality is great as well. I would definitely recommend to hard-wire it in. I hate messing with car wiring but it was really simple to do! I have pics (somewhere) of the (empty) fuse sockets that I used. I also bought the Power Magic Pro which you area able to set by voltage level or timer, to prevent draining your car battery. I've had this thing running in my car for almost a year now and its worked fantastically. My favorite thing is that I can connect to the cameras when Im at work/home/ pretty much anywhere that has a known wifi network and check on my car if I feel the need to.
Going back to the footprint of the camera, you can see in the pics that its barely visible.
Interior shot Front Camera
Front Camera
Rear Camera
I understand that the cost of this system is more than the two you posted, but, its worth every penny!

Powerhouse,
The 750s comes in single and 2 channel. Definitely go with the 2 channel! The setup uses two cameras, one cable runs from the front camera to the rear camera.
Stmcknig, That's exactly how I've routed mine. I too am considering the 900s for the 4k upgrade, but Id like to see real world comparison of the two before I do.

In case you do decide to use the power magic pro and hardwire it in:

^ In this thread I show the empty slots I used in the fuse panel. In the pics you'll see the ground wire mounted with a clip, that was just for the photo, I've drilled and mounted it properly.

I just installed blackvue dr900s-2ch system in my coupe. I already forgot the front camera exists bc I can’t see it at my point of view. It have both hardwired to the fuse box in the passenger foot well. I also purchased blaclvue’s external battery pack so I can run both cameras off of that battery instead of the cars battery in parking mode.
So far so good and quality is great. I hid the wire everywhere I could in the front and sides. Only piece of wire you see is in the rear as you can’t compeltely hide it unless you make custom brackets.

Thanks to NoScurdyJags for the pictures. But could you clarify where you routed the wire for the rear camera? The whole side of the car, all the way to the front camera is easy, but where/how did you get the wire from the camera to the side of the car?
Thanks

Wires go up into the headliner trim there and continue towards the passenger side.
Route the wire between the two trim pieces on the passenger A pillar, route the camera wire from the door rubber trim at top towards the rear of the car.
Here you can see the wire being routed under the plastic shroud.
Finally here is the point where the wire comes out from under the trim to meet the camera. That excess wire can be tucked under the headliner trim. I was cleaning the underside of the glass and it came out, but, super easy to hide it all under that headliner.

Personally, I use a GoPro. You can mount it anywhere and then take it with you. Lots of various mounts ( removable and non-removable ) and no wiring . I switch it over to my Harley frequently. You can also install the app on your phone to view the positioning of what the cam see's and get a large sim card. Good Luck !
