Default De-badging the car

I want to remove the leaping jag and the name from the spoiler, can someone help me with what they did to remove them?

I thought I remembered reading on here that when you remove that there is actually a hole in the panel where a male positional divit or whatever on the badge itself sits in. So if that's the case not sure what you would do with the hole?

I think that’s right. There are old threads here about debadging. I recall dental floss and perhaps a heat gun were used.

This is correct (except there are actually two holes in the spoiler that the leaper locator pins fit into). Here is a picture of the back of the leaper with the pins highlighted:

FWIW - I recently replaced my chrome badges with black and the original badges were easy to remove with a plastic interior tool like the flat one in the image below.

Here is a video on debadging the F-Type. Don't recommend unless your replacing the leaper with another color.

I was thinking of de-badging and then re-badging for PPF install purposes but it seems like a bit of a pain.

Getting the badges off is easy. Getting them back on again isnt, except the leaper which has a positioning hole in the deck, and positioning pin in the part. If you delete the "Jaguar" and model identifiers and just have the leaper, then it is very easy (about my skill level, and it is what I did when I sprayed mine black) though you have to then reposition the leaper slightly and cut off the positioning pin. It still covers the hole. Edit, just saw the post above, OK it was two holes, so long ago I didnt remember!

IMHO the car looks better without all of the graffiti on the back, though probably if mine was an R I might be more attached to that badge.

I debadged mine many years ago (some six years ago it turns out), see here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...3/#post1919279

If you have a darker color you may want to consider trying blacking them out first. I have a Carpathian Grey 20 R and did a plasti dip black on the badges. They pretty much vanish in the grey, looks real nice. Give it a try first you might like, can easily be reversed with mineral spirits if not..

Here is a few photos of my F-Type while it was debadged during the PPF install that was just completed this week. Minus the holes I think an F-Type looks better with the badging, especially in the black leaper and lettering.

I removed all the lettering and left the "S" and the Leaper. I think it's a much cleaner look.

I de-badged my BMW because they went a little over the top with it. The jag is the same way, there's 'Jaguar' in six different places just on ONE side. I think I'm going to take all the rear lettering off, and paint the leaper black. If I can find replacements that fit, I'll remove the wheel centers. Remove the front R emblem, and paint the front jaguar head black. My car is Firesand with black trim, I think blacking out the rest of the chrome makes sense, and I like the less cluttered look.

I have the black pak on my R as well and I did everything the growler up front and left just the R in the grill.

With the wheel centre caps there is almost nothing available which fit properly other than the OEMs.
Heaps of cheapo Chinesium ones in various colours but they are all rubbish which fit very loosely and need tape on the back to stay put, and even then they are the old growler design and old font.
Almost all of the proper OEM ones with the "modern" growler design and Jaguar font (different J to the old font) are red and odds on that is what you already have.
Best I can find are these Union Jack style ones: https://www.ebay.com/itm/23289824969...Bk9SR_i499G_Yw

My theory is that Jaguar got fed up with people mistakenly thinking it was only an Aston.

Astons are beautiful however their sports cars are RWD only. I need the traction and would pick the AWD F-Type over any more expensive exotic RWD sports car.

I completely debadged my old one a few years back. I took it to a local shop, ad them fill the holes and repaint the lid. It looked factory. After a month or two, I bought a new black leaper, ground off the tabs and entered it on the lid. IMO, it looks far better than factory.
