...I've put almost 600 miles on her already! Wow...what a trip to TN. BTW, had a built Mustang GT attempt to play on our way up the interstate...and he quickly learned not to tangle with an F-Type. When he caught back up we got a serious thumbs up from him. Also briefly played with a gorgeous metallic red XK-R in Chattanooga.

Back on the rebuild subject, Friday afternoon I ran by another local shop and spoke to a long time friend. He is going to do some checking this week on getting a quarter panel and replacing it at his shop and then me taking it over to my guys to finish the paint work. I will be out of town this week, but will go back next Friday to speak with him and see if he has gotten anywhere on obtaining a new one.

I'm so happy this car is getting a second life. Obviously you're hiding the gnarly side, but it's going to be good as new.

The company is GWG Wheels out of New York. I called and spoke to the owner who was very knowledgeable. Unfortunately the ones I really wanted would not clear the front rotors without additional spacers. These 20" staggered Razors clear with no issue. I ordered 9" front and 10.5" rear with different offsets. They are custom drilled so expect a couple day delay for manufacturing. In addition, I added a 1" hubcentric spacer (adapter) on the rear to get the wider stance I was looking for. The specs and URL link to the adapters are posted earlier in the thread.

Please note, they are an inexpensive wheels and I don't know how well they will hold up. They seem to have balanced out well enough and I did not have any vibration up to 140...

Yup...the drivers side looks kinda splotchy with black, silver, and grey body panels and then the quarter still looking rough...but soon

Well, I am back from the honeymoon...broke, but back. While I was away she spent her time in the shop getting completed and painted. I am headed over to pick her up in a few minutes and SO excited

While I was out a buddy of mine went by and took some progress pics for me as documentation, but I think more to tease me...so I thought I would share.

Well, she was not finished, but is looking really good and I cannot wait until later this week when I can pick her up.

Each of the individually painted parts needs to be wet sanded and buffed and then she will be reassembled ensuring all the body lines are gapped properly. SOON!!!!

Much harder than I would have ever thought. I thought I enjoyed my Corvettes, especially the Grand Sports, but I am absolutely in love with every aspect of this F-Type. The ONLY way I will get rid of her is if someone makes me a very attractive offer and I have located an AWD V8 with which to replace her. Other than those two events coinciding, I think I will have her for a while....and that is saying a LOT compared to the number and types of vehicles I have owned over the yrs. This vehicle is amazing and puts a smile on my face everytime I drive her. Since I have been absent from her for close to a month, I am missing her much more than I thought I would...

One of the best running threads on the forum in my judgement. Love the story, the suspense and this latest hiatus just makes it better. Going to be a bittersweet day for many of us when this project is done.

Thanks for all the support guys! I apologize for the hiatus, but with the wedding and then the subsequent honeymoon I simply did not have the time to finish her.

The account reps in the company I work for found out I was going to be gone for 2 full weeks and for the prior 2 months I was travelling Sunday - Friday visiting customers. The week of my wedding I started off in Lexington KY, Houston TX, New Orleans LA, Jackson MS, and made it back home to Birmingham, AL home late Thursday night in time to get everything prepped at the wedding venue on Friday for the Sat wedding.

Oddly enough, I still found time to put 3k miles on her with the mis-colored parts and wrinkled quarter panel just because she was so much fun to drive.

Just in case anyone is interested...I married up

Well, hopefully the missus is understanding about the mistress.

I didn't tell mine I was buying one and a week later it took the comment that "If you don't want to talk to me I'll go talk to my mistress" to bring her around. Been with her 21 years now so she should be used to it. Hopefully you'll have similar luck.
