From deathbed to roadbed - A rebuild story

...you did notice it was parked off by itself ...and you by far have the most beautiful angular wedge vehicle ever build in that Pantera in your signature. Pic please I would love to locate one of the original 183 GT5-S Panteras built and restore it.

UC3,
I have really enjoyed reading your thread, I wish I had the skills you possess. The GT5 is now skyrocketing in price, but I honestly don't like the wide body Panteras as much as the '71 & '72. I think Tom Tjaarda's original vision gets distorted on the admittedly more aggressive looking wide bodies. As for the Aventador, how could the same company have designed a car as beautiful as the Miura and as ugly as every Lambo that has come since?
Here are a couple of pictures of the Cat, which i'm getting back after two years, an engine transplant, fuel injection, headers, new exhaust, and a number of other upgrades including "new" C4 Corvette seats (the only ones narrow enough to fit) and a leather interior. It should be fun pushing around 2900 lbs with somewhere north of 525hp (it was a handful at 300).

Wow that is a beautiful automobile and with 500+ hp it should be a beast of a machine. Once you get it back I would love to see pics of the interior to see what they did. I almost bought an all original '74 about 10 years ago...I had always wanted one, and the girl I was dating at the time did not like the looks of it. She said it looked "old." I went with another 928 at the time, and I have kicked myself since for not having bought it...especially seeing what they are worth now.
I can understand staying true to the original design, however, I just really love the wide bodies especially the wide steel fenders. Finding parts would be impossible though. One would have to fabricate everything from sheet stock, but I think I would enjoy the challenge. Enjoy that beasty and have fun!

Finally some really good pics of her. I think she turned out well. For anyone interested, she currently has 34k miles (I've put 5k miles on her) and I will be letting her go in the Oct-Nov time frame so I can start building a coupe for the winter. I have all documentation on the build and have an image of the original window sticker for this VIN so those interested can see the options. I will be asking $48k but will entertain all offers.

I've followed your thread and you've done some nice rebuild work. Originally I thought your asking price was a bit unrealistic for a salvage title but it $46-$8K is right around wholesale for a non-salvage version (Manheim 20K mile '14 v8S are in a range of $45K to $49,500) so you may have a chance to get a viable offer. Good luck
