Hey fellow F-Type brethren..... Recently, I had my local muffler shop fabricate some decatted downpipes for me. After having them on for a few weeks, I’ve decided they’re just not for me. The upside? Feels like there’s a lot more power up top, and throttle response also improved. Downside? Sounds like ****. At least to my ears. If anyone is interested, PM me.
Wow... a few questions, just cause I'm interested: How loud was it, did it smell in the cabin, and how much did the fabrication run (ballpark)?
VERY LOUD. No smell wafting into the cabin. But outside the car, u can definitely smell it. If I remember correctly, it costed $350 plus I tipped the worker $50. Took several hours cuz they wanted to make sure it was done right.
Yes I can't even imagine the sound. The 200-cell downpipes already sounded not for me on the stock exhaust. You should have tried a different exhaust setup as well. I think the stock muffler is calibrated perfectly for oem setup, but once you change anything it goes to sh*t. Maybe a VAP touring or valvetronic would have made a better symphony.

Yes, I am eagerly awaiting Stuart to fabricate the valvetronic exhaust as part of the group buy. He said it’ll be completed and shipped later this month.
ill do a video with an acoustic mic so you can hear the before and after sound. while its up on my lift ill get a few pics of the exhaust flange locations so you can judge the difficulty.
just waiting on my VAP Lower Pulley/Tune/Plugs and the spacers from the group buy to install all at once.

Ah okay. Just curious for if and when I end up doing the VAP downpipes.
Wondering how your cattless downpipes would sound with the OEM R exhaust on my base...hmm.
Personally, I wasn’t too fond of the sound at all. But to each their own.... maybe you’ll like it. Hahaha. PM me if you’re interested. I see u are located very close to me.
