Perhaps the audio quality could be improved with a bluetooth to 3.5mm adapter paired to the tablet and plugged into the car's aux in?
Something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/TaoTronics-Bluetooth-Receiver-Microphone-Streaming/dp/B013QJ0W8Q/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1545923398&sr=8-3&keywords=bluetooth+3.5mm+adapter
That would take away the necessity to run a 3.5mm cable to the aux in port and I guess would only be limited in quality by the bluetooth hardware. I know bluetooth isn't perfect - but it sounds like it may be better than what the tablet's 3.5mm port is putting out.

Also - to your other question, all of the factory menus are available just as it is in your original setup. Dynamic mode, lighting, AC and all of that

Seems like a letdown, esp for the price. A slow old tablet that can hardly run waze, takes forever to boot up, bad audio, bad bluetooth, and you have to go back to the stock screen to control HVAC controls? im all for the bigger screen with waze and spotify integration but not to go backwards on other features.

While I agree with you on the speed and audio, I think that having retained the original factory screens is a really good thing. The whole factory setup is just one click away. My main concern is the dated version of Android they used. And I'm afraid that the reason is probably dated hardware that is incompatible with the current versions of Android.

Essentially I have the same concerns. Its not that Google maps doesn't work at all, sometimes it's faster than other times. However, multi-tasking is not exactly the tablets strong suit.
We could probably get Android auto by finding an older version of the app, compatible with Android 6.0. However, anything that requires the audio to go through the tablet that happens through the 3.5mm jack simply has very poor audio quality. Not sure if you could buy a small USB powered DAC as the intermediary to the aux in. Anything through Bluetooth sounds just as good as if you were using your phone.
As mentioned in the video, I couldnt get the tablet to pair very reliably with the car, however phones have no issues connecting to the tablet via Bluetooth.

Even with the slowness, do you still think it is worth it?
any comment from Merryway about that at all?

I'd love to see more on the CarPlay integration! That's my primary interest with this. How is the sound quality with CarPlay?

I was excited about this product from the get-go but my interest has dwindled substantially. As far as I can tell, there seems to be far more issues than expected which seem to outweigh the benefits. Unless substantial strides are made by Merryway to correct the issues and update the OS, I will most likely pass.

The problem with the Merryway unit is that it seems to be outdated before it ships. At the 2019 CES there were a bunch of these units based on Android 8. Why are we trying make Android 6 work?
There are more than one Chinese company that makes units very similar to this one. And they make models for almost all the car makes and models. I just don't think there are enough F-types out there to warrant their effort.
