I had to remove the left side trunk panel. When I re-assembled it, I noticed that it was different than the right side.
LEFT - finish piece flush with trunk panel.
RIGHT - trunk panel recessed a bit
If I remove the finishing piece, the left side has a bit of a gap between the fabric and plastic.
But the right side does not.
Given the clip and metal fasteners I have to work with, I'm not sure how I'd get it to move any more, but if I can see a reference F-Type, it will give me the confidence that it is something I need to figure out.
What do your trunks look like? Are they symmetric or do they look like mine?
I haven't inspected mine to compare but it sure looks to me like your left side panel is not clipped back in properly/all the way and that is why it sticks out further than the RHS. Maybe a gentle rap with a closed fist will fix it?
left side panel needs to go in further and sit flush. make sure to try to align the pins/clips as best as possible and give it a good push to seat them. did this when I swapped out springs.
Thanks for confirming. The clip is catching on something. I can hear it seat and then I have to yank on it to pull it out. Maybe it is seating on the bottom of the metal tab and not the hole in the metal tab. I'll have another go at it with a light to see if I can visually line things up (it's a bit hard to see what's going on behind the boot panel).
