Dieting the f type?

The roof is fixed but there is a system for the interior ceiling to open to let in the sun. Moonroof, as opposed to a sunroof that opens on the outside.

I was about ready to toss in an acid bath for the tub to remove another 30 lbs of paint, but that might compromise the body stiffness . Oh, don't forget to remove the AC system!

Ha ha, woops wrong car, I have twin Polarises, one's an XJ with the button. The coupe has a slide. **** - I just realized I have never once closed it. I had to physically just look at how the roof slid!

[QUOTE=polarisnavyxj;
If you have an F type, yes you did buy the wrong track car.[/QUOTE]
...fixed it for you ;-) ; vert or coupe - neither is a track car and can't reasonably be made into one (doesn't mean it isn't fun to take one to a track). The weight difference between a coupe and 'vert is negligable and the vert is plenty stiff......P7 anybody?
Cheers,
Dave

I'm with Carnut; there is no easy way and if you wanted light, you bought the wrong car.
To spend $$$$$'s to lose 20, 50 or even 100 lbs on the car seems silly to me but to each their own.
Remove the 2nd battery (if you have one), the tow bar, the tire pump, owner's manual and floormats, maybe the engine cover......and that's about all you can do without spending a small fortune.
Next up; expensive forged rims.....but not very good lb/$ ....same with the Carbon Ceramic brakes.
Look at what JLR did to try to lighten an F type (AKA the Project 7), remove the roof mechanism, different seats, Carbon brakes, Ti exhaust etc.
Short of gutting the car (as Unhingd mentioned) by pulling out the seats, stereo, etc. there is only so much that can be done.
Yeah, most would be much farther ahead by stepping away from the buffet!
2 cents,
Dave

Out of curiosity what does the secondary battery do? Is it for the stop/start and remote start systems?
I have an SVR, carbon roof, carbon pack, but not ceramic brakes, so could do a ceramic conversion at some point in the future though it cost a fortune.
Does anyone offer two-piece brakes for the F-Type yet, that is one way to save a lot of weight without costing a fortune.

If I remove this secondary battery, will I get any error light on dash and will my remote start still work as I use the remote start on cold mornings to pre-warm the car and make opening doors easier when it is frozen?

P.S. Where is this secondary battery located, or has any got a picture of it?
Edit: I do not think my SVR has a secondary battery, I certainly cannot see one anyway, any other way to disable the ECO rubbish so I don't have to press button every time I drive the car, lazy I know but its just annoying?

The easiest way to disable the Eco feature on post ‘15 models can be found here:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...-146010/page1/
One simple plug, no warning lights or issues at all.

I see this regularly??
A "Moonmroof" is a glass panel that is movable.
a "Sunroof" is a metal panel that is movable.
If nothing moves then it's just a window or a glass roof. Jaguar calls it a Pano-roof
Two kinds of start stop systems. If you have the small second battery just remove the battery lead. It will never operate again and no error codes. Just the ECO off light will be on.
Remember the big battery does ALL the starting of the engine regardless of what the ECO system is doing.

There is no secondary battery on cars produced after the 2015 model year.

I haven't but I use them in my motorcycles; 2.2 lbs compared to 11.7 lbs......you might save 50 lbs on the F type.....but that's back over the rear wheels. Drag racers in certain classes have been adding weight over the traction wheels for better ET's for years......in PSMCDR, guys have been known to fill their trunk mounted spares with water...

To disable, either the red + connector on the + post is removed, or as FOOSH states on that page, disconnecting the indicated ground wire has the same effect. I suspect someone already disabled using one of those methods, or the battery totally died.
