On my 2019 F Type I'm still having a difficult time with the carpet bulging near the gas pedal. If I put my foot under the gas pedal (like at a stop light) I have to push the carpet towards the tunnel to get my foot out. It was a problem from day one but it's now made much worse when I wear my Hoka running shoes...they have a wide sole. There was another thread about this last year but no one came up with a solution to fasten the carpet to the tunnel better. That's the issue, it's not that there's not enough space, it's that the carpet bulges out. Even if I took out the padding under the carpet, it would not fix this issue because the carpet bulges and is not adhered to the center tunnel. I tried two sided tape, industrial strength velcro, and even just recently tried screws that I thought could catch on to the plastic-like insulation. Nothing worked. So as Roost5o said in last years post...I can't be the only one with this problem!
I have also noticed the same issue on my 2017 V6 Manual.
I have also had the interior out of my car (due to a mouse issue… to embarrassing for a Jag). So I have seen the carpet tub and how it is not secured to anything really.. just where the seats bolt to the floor.
It may be possible to drill a hole and install a screw to fasten the carpet to the trans tunnel.
But I think your shoe would need a smooth surface to slide along on the carpet side. Perhaps a plate of aluminum with three or four fasteners that tap into the tunnel?
On my Manual car, I’d also like to get some extra carpet room on the “left” side (next to the clutch pedal) where there is an access panel to some electrical stuff.

I feel your pain! I have to drive barefoot every time as I have a size 15 shoe. There is a lot of space there between the carpet and the tunnel. Just not sure what to do with it
As for adhesive, you may want to consider a method I used to glue the headliner in my 69 E. If you have a local 'farm' store, they may sell large animal hypodermic needles, or try online. Look for ones that have a sizeable cartridge. filling that with your choice of heavy duty liquid adhesive. Weldwood is a good one:
I put glass head stick pins in to outline the area that I needed to adhere and then stuck the hypo needles in several places to assure a good spread of adhesive. I was able to press the two surfaces together by hand, but the headliner probably isn't as resistant to change as the carpet would be. So if you have a small bag of something heavy, like pea gravel that would conform to the area's contours (Home Depot .5 cu ft) to lay on that area to hold the surfaces in place, that may work..
Despite wearing a size 9 shoe, I do have to switch to a pair of shoes just for driving the E. Athletic shoes often have a more aggressive tread that would hang up on the carpet. I looked for something that had a rubber sole, but smoother than a typical athletic shoe.
I never noticed the carpet 'bulge' until this thread so I went out to look and sure enough, my '23 has the same thing. I definitely have space issues with certain running sneakers (with size 13 feet) where there is *barely* enough room and the edge of the sneaker will catch the edge of the brake pedal. Perfect for heel-toe I imagine, but not so much in an automatic. I've got a fantastic set of Italian driving shoes (thanks to Grand Prix Originals and @RickyJay52 ) and I don't have the problem with those. My carpet can easily be pushed another 1.5" inward towards the tunnel which would help tremendously in this arena so I'll be watching to see what solution ultimately wins out.
Of all the solutions the best seems to be drilling into the tunnel and putting a screw or two in. It's not permanent like the glue solutions. You never know, I may need to get in there at some point. So what do I have to worry about in the tunnel...where's the gas line (I'd hate to hit that...OMG). What else is behind there?
glue is the better solution. it's not as permanent as you think and you should be able to separate the two if you really need too (but if you think about it you really will never have a reason to remove the carpet ever) .Drilling is the worst option IMO. Risk verse benefit very one sided
If the glue wont hold then drill away but def second line option.
Here is an old picture of my car with the Driver's side carpet tub removed.
The picture shows a mouse hotel that was made from the foam backing found in the sound deadening materials.
The picture does not show what is in the area of the Gas pedal, but there are some foam panels to help with sound deadening.
It only takes a few minutes to remove the seat, the center console panels, and the carpet tub.
But alas.. I am moving and don't have any time to see what is on the transmission tunnel.
I would also recommend looking under the car to see what routes through there.
