Do all dealers not give out loaner cars?
I have mine in for some minor issues but the shop is quite busy. They gave me a rental car instead of a loaner car - I was kind of expecting a loaner based on what other people here have posted. Is that normal? Should I specifically ask for a loaner next time?
Also, when they said I was getting a rental, they specifically said "comparable" rental. The Hyundai Santa Fe is anything BUT comparable to the F-Type!

Have only had my F-Type a few months. Haven't had it in for service that took longer than 60 minutes so far, so no need to request a loaner. However, my previous two cars were both Lexus' and it was SOP to get a loaner - booked in advance or not. Sounds like it's a bit different with Jag.

The usual scenario at my dealer is book to reserve a loaner and hope that they will be able to take my car in the workshop to do the work at the same time. I have had cases where my car has sat untouched for a couple of days while I was in their loaner.
As a JLR dealer, the loaners are usually Discovery Sports or RR Evoque, not Jaguars. When they are out of loaners, they pull from Enterprise and pay for up to three days. Last time I got the biggest Dodge RAM pickup truck they had. Of course, what else in Texas ;-) Definitely didn't handle like my F...
The downside with Enterprise is toll charges. If I use the dealer loaner they quietly pick up the toll charges. Last time I was in the Enterprise loaner I had to cross their palm with a credit card and got billed $11 handling fee for a $1.05 toll charge. Ouch.

My dealer used to always give me a F-Type V6S (Auto) when I brought my F-Type R in, but they said they stopped offering F-Types after some guy went on a joy-ride in the F-Type V6S and killed the tranny. My dealership also sales Lambos, Paganis, and Bentleys. I wonder what type of loaners they get.

Agree. I have to book appointments weeks in an advance and explicitly ask for a loaner in order to be considered for one. At times they will say, sorry, there are none available for that time. The loaners are either LR or XE/XFs.

I found out from my dealer, that unlike other marques, Jag does not offer a mechanics Academy to train qualified technicians. Instead the dealers have to rely on internal training, or recruiting from other dealerships. This has resulted in the shortage of qualified technicians for the entirety of the dealership network. Hence, Repair schedules can be pushed out further than the dealerships would like.

I had my SVR in for a warranty fix in December. Unfortunately the service dept at the local dealer is a separate entity from sales so they ask: do I need a ride somewhere? Since the Sales Dept were trying to be friendly they lent me an F-pace which is unlikely to happen again as this happened while it was parked in the secure lot where I work:

Ouch Jallitt! Thanks Unhingd, that explains a few things. About to take mine in for the first service and after reading reviews, none of the five (!) dealers within a 60 mi radius get great reviews, they all say how busy they are. Too busy. Not answering the phone, rushing through jobs busy. There is one that gets better reviews 120 mi away, but that would be a hassle too... It sounds like there is not great training available for the techs, pick it up on the streets, as it were... Not great to hear for our $100K+ cars...
Oh, forgot to answer OP, at least one of the local dealers outsources to Enterprise, it looks like a few do that...

Sorry if I brought this thread back from the dead, but today I left my F-Type with the dealer to (hopefully) fix the subwoofer crackles. However, I was told they do not offer loaner cars to owners who bought their car somewhere else. Left kind of a bad taste in my mouth. They will arrange an Enterprise loaner, but I don't need to go into why it's subpar. I can definitely attest Porsche does not do this (I called their corporate line and asked).
