I believe that the 2021 F Type has the digital dash from the XE which is configurable to different modes. We have ours set for the entertainment so that music info comes up on it, but nav is an option and so are a few others. I used the nav one (not full screen but between the dials) and thought it was a bit busy, and anyway you also have it coming up on the main screen and on the HUD. If I wanted 3 things telling me what to do, I would just drive with my wife and 2 daughters.

The article pays homage to audi's system. It never occurs to reviewers that audis system requires an endless paid subscription after a short trial period, so its not included as part of your audi.

Not sure if they all come with digital gauges but I think it might be an option!

I also have a '17 Q7. The Google Maps in the virtual cockpit is neat, but after the trial I killed it. The nav in the Audi works fine without it, and is still top notch (in my opinion).

I think you have to put in a SIM card for that. From the specs

Connected Navigation ProRequires 086DC Traffic Sign Recognition and Adaptive Speed Limiter where available
(standard on HSE)
Online PackRequires 087AY Connected Navigation Pro where available.
(Standard on HSE)
Interactive Driver DisplayRequires 087AU Navigation Pro or 087AY Connected Navigation Pro (standard on HSE)

This might explain more. https://www.jaguar.com.au/jaguar-ran...echnology.html

We have the android auto which I was going to set up but you need a cable to connect to the phone and I think that is pretty prehistoric so I havent bothered yet. It is one of those things where you think of it when you need the nav once every 2 months and then forget it immediately afterward

After the trial, I didn' t subscribe to audi connect either. I liked the google earth display a lot better than the drab colors and minimalist normal gps display, but the destination input is awkward, the voice control is unusably slow and low IQ, and I find the weird vertical panel of nav controls totally indecipherable, so I never use the car's gps other than to follow along without turn by turn. IMO its not close to worth $5,000 in subscription fees over a reasonable lifetime of the car asuming no price increases when I can't deal with the basic implementation. But mine is a 2016 because I wanted analog gauges.

The best system IMO would be a simple phone mount, which AFAICT has never even been attempted by any car maker.

I think he mostly speak of the new digital tft cluster, so from MY21 on, two lcd screens in the car. I must say that I dont like so much for the main instruments what was the other reason not to buy the MY21. In a convertible the main display must be deeper if it is a lcd because if not you are easily blinded by the sun. In Huracan it is deeper, in Jag not.

Ok I am doing this from my phone so I will post pics separately.

First is the choices of dial setup. We have 2 because in my view dials are like nipples, 2 is optimum. But if you like you can have one or none

Our information (in this case in the middle of the dials) is set to media. Which is somewhat disconcerting depending on the album art. The inception soundtrack has a picture of the composer and when I first noticed him looking at me from the dash I nearly shat myself.

Then you have the choice of information

The second picture is driver info which I assume is sign detection etc, I've actually not used it.

I recently had an E-Pace as a loner.
It had this display. I thought the dials looked old fashioned and anyway in my F the present dials are partly obscured by the steering wheel.
I set the E-Pace up with the full map, which I thought was an improvement.
If only it were possible to have waze there instead of the Jag map it would improve the display enormously.

Is that 2020 a restyling of the XE? It looks blobbier (less sleek) than earlier models. I was getting ready to talk my wife into getting an XE, but something doesn’t look right about that 2020.

It is chunkier but more muscle car-ish. We have had both the '15 and the '20 in the R sport/dynamic. The 20 looks better inside and out and the driver is smoother but maybe not as sporty.

The main problem with digital gauges is the lag. As long as you dont need gauges, they are ok, except when you can't see them in the Sun. Another problem is single point of failure and lack of future parts and software support

The reason they exist is to save money, but it makes the car a Casio vs Rolex IMO. And as the aviation community learned the hard way, software support is the never ending expense making digital an order of magnitude more costly than analog. Pagani has the right approach and its not that expensive to create beautiful gauges vs labor intensive recurring software development.

BOY that Pagani display is BUSY. Lots of info, too many reflections.

Ahhh, for the Good Old Days when we had circular-reading analog dials for everything...rotated so that the needles pointed UP at the normal & proper readings.

The difference is Pagani pays a starving artist to create their displays and lighting as a work of art on top of analog functionality, vs paying an army of engineers to do something outside of their lane. That said, an analog as art approach is suitable for a Jaguar, we don't have to cheap out on the guage itself.

I agree the flash photography is off, but its a good demo too because if you used a flash on the digital screen it would be a white rectangle.

The Pagani display is a nightmare, an absolute nightmare both aesthetically and in terms of safety/instant recognition.
