Default Does anyone know what this part is?

For those of you with a 14-17 F type before they changed the front somewhat... does this front look like yours?

After taking this picture I noticed that there's a white part which looks lower on the left side of this picture (or right of car). It's between the lower grille surround and the front splitter. Anyone know what this is? Is it supposed to look like that?

It's hard to find this but curious about yours. On most front pictures done from a height, you can't see it because of the angle...

Mine (16R) has black air ducting in there. Weirdly having just looked i did just pick out some Styrofoam from that area, not sure if it was meant to be there or just ended up there somehow lol..
Ill try to get a pic albeit hard to do so.

The only thing I can see is a bright shiny reflection just below the lower left portion of the surround. Is there something else I’m not seeing?

Hi will, if the styrofoam is meant to be there... I should get myself some. Otherwise all good.

Unhingd, it's very subtle so I added an arrow just underneath what I'm referring to.

I just had a look at mine with a torch (flashlight) and I reckon it is the top of the supplementary radiator.
At just the right angle you can see it and of course like most radiators it is shiny metal.
It sits flat/horizontal under the main radiator.

Yes..the shiny horizontal radiator, but you should be able to see it across the entirety of that opening unless it's partially obstructed by leaves. (which happens frequently).

Thanks gentlemen. I think a part of it it may have some sort of white cover on it that makes that section more noticeable. In the following two photos I got close up, the first shows the left portion of the gap. The second on the right shows it covered by some sort of black covering. The right appears fine, however the left portion is far more noticeable. Is this how it looks on your cars guys?

I can also see it from a variety of different angles. The only angle from the front I can't is if it's from a height.

Left side close up

Right side close up

If it bothers you that much, just shoot some black spray paint in there, to darken it. (BrakeKleen first, to clean it)

You will probably need to re-coat it every couple years...but at least you will be able to sleep at night!
