Door Handles for Closing?

Door Handles for Closing?
This might sound like an amateur question. When the drivers door is open and I go to close it, any pressure on the handle causes 2 quick beeps from the horn.
Do I have to touch the door or glass to close it? Disclaimer: Decades ago I was chastised by a Benz factory rep for not using the handle on a 560SEL for closing.

That "feature" drove me bonkers, especially when working on/around the car with the doors closed, any time I would lean over and bump a handle, BEEPBEEP. Loud AF, too.
I disconnected that little horn entirely, and am much happier. It's separate from the HORN horns, it's just a little alarm horn tucked down under the hood by the firewall.

I use the trim at the top of the door, below the glass.
Passengers usually use the handle, freak out when it beeps, and then use either the door, getting fingerprints all over it, or the glass, which makes me sad. It would have been nice for there to be some sor t of designated space with a little flat paint or something integrated into the design.

This same function happens with my XJL. The exterior locking button is located in the center of the handle and everybody thinks they need to push it to open the door. Still makes me jump and I know they are going to do it every time...LOL.
I use that trim piece under my F-Type glass as well. The funny thing is that sometimes, even when I have my key, when I TRY to use the door handle to LOCK and ARM the car, it will fold in, the beep and pop back out.

Look at the thick rubber weather seal attached to the backside of each door. At the top You will notice a large circular indentation in the rubber strip that is about the size of a quarter and large enough for one or two fingers. I use this method to close my doors from the outside. Just a little "tug" does the trick. First timer passengers seem to pick up the routine fairly quickly when shown this little convenience...
No fingerprints and NO BEEP!

I agree instructing my wife on how to get in my car is not received well.

The only time I have had the beep alarm go off from touching the button on the handle or accidentally pushing on one of the handles on the door that is popped out is when I don't have the fob on my person.
It seems that there is no way to lock the doors if you don't have the fob other than through the InControl App of course.

If you don't have the fob on you, you can still lock it by pressing the lock button on the *inside* of the door and then closing the door.
