Double beep after locking

Happy New Year Jaguars
Welcomed my brother to the Jag fold - he picked up a 2015 V8S convertible from CarMax so we're now the Jag twins. But he had asked me how to turn off the double beep a couple of seconds after locking the car. To which I of course replied - you shouldn't need to. He took it back to CarMax who believed that one of the door handles needed to be replaced as it looks like the car believed the door wasn't locked in order to arm the alarm, although the handle works fine and locks the car. Told me this morning they replaced the handle but the symptoms remain and someone there thinks a software update is in order. They are going to push it over to a Jaguar dealer to look into but it seems unlikely to me there's a software improvement unless someone here knows different ? To me it seems either a faulty door handle (or rather whatever sensor says it is shut) as the actuator works. The door handle(s) do not pop back out so its not the you left a key inside the car issue. They claim they will also replace the battery which while nice, again doesn't strike me as the root cause.
Anybody already been down the parts cannon route and got it figured out more accurately ? I feel like defending the brand a little as it's his first Jag coming in from the Merc, Porsche and BMW crowd.... ;-)
Thanks kindly
Stuart

Yes, check this. I've had the hood closed and latched on my F-Type (or so I thought) and got the double-beep and realized the hood wasn't latched properly on both sides. This happens often when someone tries to close the hood from one side instead of in the middle.

I agree that it could be the hood (or even trunk) latch that causes an issue. You can tell your brother I had a similar problem the day I picked up my car. The tricky part was that it was at a dealer in DC and was Friday evening, so the shop was closed. In my case, it was a sensor on the hood latch, and, when it was replaced, everything was fine. The one difference is that my car was complaining that the hood open and it would not lock - at all. It was a bit disconcerting as I pulled onto the the beltway and headed down I-95. So, I'm a bit surprised that all that's happening is the double beep with no error message.

All the locks work normally so I’m thinking that the double beep is indicating that the alarm cannot arm. I’ll pass on the suggestion to look into the hood latch sensor. I know my LR3 has that foible, I ended up bypassing the switch. The bonnet latch itself was secure but the alarm thought it was unsecured

I have this issue with my XKR. And although it will arm the alarm, it won't actually lock the car. Try approaching the car without the key fob and try opening the door. I will bet it's not actually locking the car and that you can open it and it will set the alarm off. Then bring the key fob and press the unlock button and the alarm will stop. It's most likely the lock actuator.

I believe they changed the assembly because you can’t split out the components. He waited about ten days for them to get the part…

Well apparently the Jaguar dealer that CarMax sent it over to can't figure it out so CarMax is offering to buy back/ cancel the sale. That seems a shame so if anybody has any wild theories please let me know. I suggested my brother open a case with Jaguar USA and have them request an engineering consult with the dealership. It's a nice example of a V8S so it would be a shame to let it go...

My wild theory:
Try a drop of a light oil on the LATCH of the drivers door. (And the passenger door, hood latches, trunk latch)
Some of today's latches will not actuate their internal switches that sense if the latch is sticky. (Had that happen on an older Ford Co Car, too)
