Default Downpipe fitment

Has anyone had fitment issues with their Velocity AP sport cats? I had the the Velocity AP sport cats paired with the quicksilver catback system for around a year and fitment was fine. I recently reinstalled the stock catback system and kept the sport cats. Fitment was fine for a couple weeks and then I took my car in to the dealer to get the battery checked out. When I left, I noticed I had an exhaust leak and brought it back the next day. The dealer told me that the right sport cats diameter was too small for the stock midpipe and brought me under the car to show me. It's strange to me that the fitment was fine for a couple weeks and then after they had possession of the car, the exhaust leak began. I told them it was really coincidental and they claimed they didn't even lift the car up for the battery issue. I took the car to a muffler shop for a second opinion and they said they couldn't fix it either without doing some welding.

The stock mid pipe does leak on the VAP downpipes if you don't put a little dab of high temp copper on the inner tube before you clamp it...and get a better clamp than the ones that are on the stock mid pipe. i would also reckon if you take it for a spirited drive (higher rpms) and the get the downpipes hot the leak will somewhat seal up. Went through this a while back.

When you say better clamp, do you mean one that covers more surface area or can clamp down harder?

The factory clamps them self are pretty good for the factory downpipes, the spacer that controls how far they can clamp is a slight bit too large for the VAP downpipes, i used a new band style clamp (the 2nd time around ) allowing me to clamp it tighter around the downpipes.
