Default Dynamic vs. Sport Mode

I have a 2017 Jaguar F-Type Premium and am confused in the difference between the Dynamic and Sport Mode and cannot seem to find much information in the manual or online. Please help me out here F-Type community!

Sport mode alters only the gearbox shift points
dynamic alters shock absorber stiffness, steering response, brakes and throttle response

How come the exhaust only seems louder in Sports mode? Is that supposed to be a part of Dynamic Mode?

The sport mode dumps more gas into the engine which = pops and burbles as it is burned up on the way out. Dynamic mode is not a part of sport mode, the two are independent features that both alter the driving style of the car!

Ok so the active exhaust is only active when in Sports Mode?

No it does not go on or off with sport mode. You can either turn it on manually by pressing the button below the gear shifter, or it goes on in Dynamic mode when selected automatically. You asked why it gets LOUDER when in Sport mode, and I was just saying that by going to Sport Mode instead of just "D", it dumps more gas to give better response, and livens up the fun noises coming out the back

I unfortunately do not have the active exhaust button in my car so I do not think I have the ability to do that. So having my car in Dynamic Mode keeps the active exhaust on and the exhaust should be louder?

If you do not have the button, then you do not have active exhaust!

You can have active exhaust without the button, in which case the exhaust is computer controlled. If you have the switch, you can control the exhaust manually as well. In the US at least, all current f-types come with active exhaust, but the button is an option, which should be standard in my opinion.

In previous years it was possible to get the car without active exhaust - a whole different exhaust was fitted without the valves.

If you have the active exhaust, the valve will always open whether you have the switch or not, and regardless of switch position if you do have the switch.

My 2015 R Coupe gets louder when switching on Dynamic Mode;
louder still with more attitude when also engaging Sport Mode;
and a bit more obnoxious still when engaging the paddles for manual shifting.

Ok so Dynamic Mode makes it slightly louder and Sport Mode makes it even louder? I haven't noticed a sound different in Dynamic Mode, only Sports Mode for some reason.

There won’t be any change to exhaust note in dynamic mode if you don’t have the switch

When you are in sport mode and use the paddles to shift, it will stay in manual mode til you either go out of sport mode, or pull and hold right shift paddel for several seconds.

When in manual sport mode it will not automatically upshift when/if you hit the rev limiter.

I wish I would have known this yesterday when my car was on the dynojet. In any case, I got some decent numbers for my baseline on my stock R.

+1

Key difference in my mind:
- Sport mode alters the shift points, so that switching to Sport mode will instantly put you in higher rev and (in most cases) give you more torque.
- Dynamic mode alters the throttle response, and will give you more acceleration for your push on the accelerator pedal.

For the most fun, use both at the same time!
