Off topic but while I was tracking the ship delivering our 2020 XE (which went around the west coast of Africa, stopped at South Africa, then across the most desolate part of the ocean to WA) I realised that there is pretty much no land masses between Africa and parts of the bottom of Aust including parts of SA and Vic. No wonder it gets so hot.

Adelaide is effected much like the East coast by ENSO - El Nino and La Nina oscillations. During an El Nino it gets hotter and drier than average while during a La Nina it gets colder and wetter than average. We are in the early/middle stages of a La Nina right now so it is cool, in fact it's the coldest October I can ever remember. Very little chance we will get any mid 40 C temps this summer.
