Default Engine cover options

Hi Everyone,

New owner of an F Type R
Love everything about my new Jag except two things
1) terrible sound system, the sub woofers behind the seats are rattling. Taking it in to dealer in a few weeks to have them sort it out under warranty I hope

2) the engine cover is one big piece of plastic, quite plain compared to other brands.
Anyone have any options to make it look like less of an after thought by Jaguar?
I am thinking cars like Mustang, BMW and Mercedes AMG
Nice if we had a plaque showing who assembled the engine like AMG does under the hood.
CF is not available for my car since it is AWD not sure what the difference is ?

Most on here, including myself just remove the cover and hang it on the wall.
Concerns of extra heat on the hood paint (bonnet for our European friends) have been dispelled, at least to my personal satisfaction.
Some have reported less heat soak and to my mind, removing it should be an improvement for longevity of the hoses around the SC.

Forum member FrickenJag was developing a CF engine cover (and other CF parts), but I don't recall hearing that it was completed.

One of our banned members, STS-V, had a firesand car, and did a pretty impressive job painting highlights on his engine cover (a search under his username will eventually reveal pictures.)

Avert your eyes when removing the cover, it is not a pretty sight underneath.

This was my solution: Remove the plastic cover and polish the aluminum intercooler cover.

This might be completely my imagination but I think running without the cover also lets me hear a little more supercharger noise, which I like.

I would agree, I hear a little whine now versus no whine previously

I saw a previous posting and pictures how you had if polished compared to the no so nice rough finish of the casting
This looks very good
Thank you for posting this picture showing the s/c cover installed

Jaguar should have done something like the Hellcat or Mercedes

Thanks DJS for the suggestion

I found the posting and looking into doing a Hydro Dip of the plastic cover here locally
STS-V did a great job of his cover. It matches the colour of his car.
Really stands out.
I will probably just go with a standard CF with a bit of pin stripping in red and highlight Jaguar maybe to match the interior accents.

Also liked the polishing Unhingd did on his supercharger.
Too bad Jaguar didn't spend a bit more time in making a nicer casting like Mustang and the Hellcat
Maybe formed a Growler emblem on the super charger for effect.

I know it will be covered up most times but there are lots of car guys that open the hood when it is standing still.
The clam shell hood is a unique piece. Why not show off that great 5 litre engine and supercharger.
Ditch the plastic cover too.
I will let you know what I end up with

Here’s the final product with the Mina crossover tubing.

That looks good. I remember seeing it before, but don't recall how you did it. Did you take it off and do it yourself, or have a shop polish it?

I actual found a used heatx that I could send out to a chrome & polish shop for polishing without sidelining the car. I then had it coated with CeramicPro before swapping it with the original heatx. If anyone with a V6 is interested in this project, PM me. You can use my spare heatx to get things launched.

Opening the bonnet for someone is so cool and dramatic and then what is there waiting underneath the hood should be accompanied by the losing horns from The Price is Right.

Polishing is like polishing a turd imo. Content with the car otherwise being beautiful inside/out.
