Extended Warranty

I’m currently going through the ‘age old’ which car to buy decision.
Looking for an awd daily has led me to a 997 C4s, R8 or F Type R.
Coming from an XK many years ago, I can appreciate the Jaguar and love the look. It’s newer, faster and has an amazing engine burble than the others.
The R8 does have #super car, but difficult single clutch auto (manuals a $10k premium), more expensive and way older. Poor reliability with some well known (not if but when) expensive issues.
The 911 is 10 years older for the same money, is pretty common (but for good reason) and has 4 seats. Good reliability, but I already have an aircooled weekend driver in the garage.
As I’m at the bottom of the Type R market ($50k), many of the 2016 cars are just out or just about to be out of warranty.
Looking on the Jaguar US website, I can’t see anything about an extended warranty.
Is there an option? If so can I buy a private car and then buy a Jaguar warranty or pay to buy from any dealer and go for the dealers generic warranty?
Thanks!

I am also in the same process, so by no means an expert. What I have found is many Jag dealers sell a third party warranty for extended options (as do many dealers). In most cases it is made to mimic the Jag warranty but cheaper and is supposedly similar to a CPO warranty. Have seen options for 4 year coverage for round $2800, depending on milage and deductible. They all appear to be accepted at most if not all dealers.

Thanks - great suggestion on the Viper. I had a yellow 2001 coupe some years ago that had a bunch of Hennessy parts thrown at it.
Unfortunately, wide RWD doesn’t work too well in the Minnesota snow. Great summer car though!
What problems did you have with Red Shield? Where did you buy that from?
Thanks and Merry Christmas to you all!

You may find a MY16 with a extended Jaguar warranty that is transferable. My extended warranty ends in 1/29/23. It is an option and some adverts say jag has a extended warranty. Good luck, you’ll love the f type and you will not see yourself coming or going. It’s a relatively low production car, about 4,000 total units per year of all variants.

My experience is that you will just not have problems. Had Jags for 20 years. Really never even had a reason to take the cars to the dealer. Maybe I was just lucky.

Bought Red Shield from dealer, price was ok so I got it. Had no claims first year then heard a rattle. Dealer determined needed a water pump and had enough noise to do the SC service bulleton. Red Shield called me to do a recorded statement that appeared designed to find a reason to turn down the claim. Then they accused the dealer of padding the service to do SC, even tho there is a service bulleton. My car has very low mileage so took a few years to occure. They then sent an inspector to the dealership and he determined SC noise wasn't loud enough, after he found out that individual parts were not available for the repair. Also I had a problem with my driver side door handle that they turned down as a wear and tear item, even tho it was an electrical sensor problem. Agian the individual part wasn't avalable only the entire assembly which they wouldn't pay for. They are nothing but another insurance company denying claims.

I was in a similar boat as well and leaning back towards another Porsche (991), R8 (was of consideration but still too expensive), Lotus Evora S or the F Type R. I bought the F Type R and have a 2016 as well with 12k. I bought an aftermarket warranty that extends another 4 years. My cousin is the sales manager and hopefully sold me a decent warranty. And although these are AWD I am not sure how well they would do in snow. I have seen them on snowy roads but clearly wouldn't handle any deep snow with the low front facia.
