Took the beast out to Thunderhill this weekend for the inaugural run of the new 5mile Track. It was an awesome weekend, but the sun and the gremlins were out in full force.

The track is fantastic, and tough. A few laps posted here:

Unfortunately, the gremlins attacked my data recording equipment. This is the only video that made it, and the data recording that worked was from a different session.

Oh Well!

Couple of stats I was able to pull out:

Top Recorded Speed: 133
Best recorded lap (5miles): 3:50:12

Nice video!

Great addition to the original track. When I started racing there with SCCA on the brand new Thunderhill track it was only, like 1.5 miles long. Then, they built the back section and now added more. SCCA, that owns the track, must be doing fine financially...

Looks like you hounded the Vette(?) until he made his mistake and did some weed-eating:-). I had my share of that there, a few crashes, couple of fires in my GT class race car but, nothing serious... good memories.

Thanks!

It was a ton of fun. The west side is more technical than the old track. A ton of turns. The overall course is 5 miles and 28 turns, not counting the s' s.

Yeah, it was a viper in front of me. I'd catch him in the corners then he'd pull away at the straights.

In the later sessions, I was passing the vipers and the stingrays! I also started to find my limits on some of the tighter curves... 13/14 on the old track gives me all sorts of trouble. Came in way too hot (65-70mph) and experienced my first understeer in the jag. Two wheels off the pavement on the wrong side of the cones... oops. Good news was the car "turned" enough to line up perfectly for the straight! ;-)

Man I need to go back there! That is awesome! Thanks so much for sharing! That track looks amazing! I took my MV Agusta Senna out there a couple of times but that was a few years ago. Love that place. Looks like they made it doubly more awesome if that was even possible! Glad you had a great time in your Jag!
